2018 Cheltenham Festival odds - The current betting in the 2018 Champion Hurdle

Buveur D'Air and Noel Fehily winning the Champion Hurdle in 2017.

After Buveur D'Air took the title in 2017, we take a look at how the 2018 Champion Hurdle ante-post betting market is shaping up.

Buveur D’Air put in a classy performance to land the Champion Hurdle title on Tuesday afternoon and Nicky Henderson’s charge is the current 7/2 favourite with bet365 to defend his title in 2018. He was switched from chasing at the start of the season, after a few high-profile names pulled out of this year’s Festival and he carried the J.P. McManus colours into the Champion Hurdle winner’s enclosure in excellent style, beating My Tent Or Yours and Petit Mouchoir by a comfortable distance.

2015 Champion Hurdler, Faugheen was one of the big-name omissions from this year’s Festival and Willie Mullins’ stable star has spent the last 18 months on the treatment table. He’s currently a 10/1 shot to reclaim his Champion Hurdle crown in 2018 with Coral, but if he returns from injury in top form at the start of next season, watch his price plummet.

Min was scheduled to challenge Altior in the Arkle Chase before he was ruled out with injury. There is a chance he could be rerouted back to hurdling next season as he continues his injury rehabilitation and he joins stablemate Faugheen in the 2018 betting at a best price of 12/1 with bet365. Annie Power missed the chance to defend the title she won in 2016, after she too fell victim the Willie Mullins’ injury curse. She is listed as a 16/1 shot with Ladbrokes to reclaim her crown next year, if the Champion Hurdle is on her agenda when she returns to action.

Joining Annie Power on the 16/1 mark with Coral is Supreme Novices’ champion Labaik, Mares’ Hurdle victor Apple’s Jade and Neptune runner-up Neon Wolf. Limini is close behind this trio of challengers, sitting at a best price of 20/1 with BetVictor and the rest of the projected field for next year’s Festival can be found at 25/1 or bigger.
