2018 Ebor Festival day two tips – Money back if our each-way treble fails to return a profit

York races.

Our expert takes a look through all the races being staged on day two of the Ebor Festival and rolls three of his selections together into this each-way treble with Paddy Power at York on Thursday.

Day two of the Ebor Festival features several outstanding races, with the showdown between Sea Of Class and Laurens in the Yorkshire Oaks the highlight of the meeting for many flat racing fans. Along with that prestigious Group One, there are two further pattern races and a couple of strong handicaps to enjoy.

Our expert has taken a look through the card and combined three of his each-way tips to make up this risk-free treble with Paddy Power.

Sign up with Paddy Power today and when you place your first bet of £20 - £10 each-way – on our each-way treble, you’ll get your money back in cash if our bet fails to turn a profit!

Thursday’s Each-Way Treble

If all three were to place, then you’d be looking at a return of around £310 from your £20 bet. If all three won then your return would shoot up to an astronomical £15,910!

2:25pm York Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes (Class 2) 6f

While it’s often a dangerous plan backing the favourite in a field featuring 20 runners, Richard Hannon has a superb recent record in this race – saddling the previous two winners - and his colt HE’ZANARAB ticks most of the boxes.

After cruising to victory under Sean Levey on debut, the Footstepsinthesand colt carried the tag of favouritism into his second start here at York. He’Zanarab had to settle for third that day, as Dark Vision – runaway winner of the Vintage Stakes and one of the ante-post favourites for next year’s 2000 Guineas – powered to a simple win.

Hannon sent his colt to York again last month, where he sauntered to an impressive two-and-a-half length win on ground a little softer than good. Conditions on Thursday should be much more favourable and that course-and-distance win should give Ryan Moore’s mount a decisive edge.

3:00pm York Clipper Logistics Handicap (Class 2) 1m

ORIGINAL CHOICE was sent out twice during Glorious Goodwood and William Haggas’ charge ran a blinder on both occasions. A third place finish over 10 furlongs behind the impressive Alfarris was followed by an identical result in the Golden Mile, with James Doyle’s mount running on well from a horrible wide draw to cross the line less than a length behind Seniority.

That was a career-best effort on fast ground for the Dragon Pulse colt, having previously swerved going with firm in the description. Seniority was giving Original Choice a pound when they clashed at Goodwood and that gap has grown to three, despite both being upped in the weights by the handicapper.

The James Doyle, William Haggas combo has been on fire the entire season and any runner Haggas sends out here at York has to be feared. Original Choice is a capable performer at this level and his handicap mark remains entirely workable.

4:50pm York British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Handicap (Class 2) 7f

After ending her juvenile campaign with an outing in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes, CROSSING THE LINE has enjoyed a consistent season on the handicap circuit. Andrew Balding’s filly has appeared four times this term, finishing second twice on the all-weather and winning twice on turf.

True, her last victory was handed to her in the stewards’ room, but there was no doubting Crossing The Line would have won the race had it not been for the interference from the first past the post. Oisin Murphy’s mount has done her best work on turning, left-handed tracks and firmer ground won’t be an issue.

Some will fear, after being drawn in the widest stall of all, Crossing The Line could be inconvenienced. However, horses drawn wide have fared well in this card-closing handicap over recent seasons – with Opal Tiara winning from the widest gate two years ago – so coming out of stall 15 could give Crossing The Line a helpful advantage.
