Sunday's European horse racing tips - Selections for the feature races at Goodwood, Deauville and Baden-Baden

More high-class horse racing action goes to post at Deauville on Sunday.

Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections and best bets for the pick of Sunday's action across Europe at Goodwood, Deauville and Baden-Baden.

Sunday’s european horse racing action sees some classy action going to post in the UK as well as both France and Germany, with Group Two and Group Three action going to post.

The Group Two Lucien Barriere Grand Prix de Deauville takes centre-stage on the card at Deauville, while in Germany the 149th renewal of the Goldene Peitsche goes to post at Baden-Baden.

Meanwhile, closer to home at Goodwood there is Group Three action with the Supreme Stakes going to post.

1:35 Deauville - Prix de Meautry Barriere (Group 3) (3yo+) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 6f

2:50 Deauville - Prix Quincey Barriere (Group 3) (4yo+) (Straight Course) (Turf) (4yo+) 1m

3:30 Deauville - Lucien Barriere Grand Prix de Deauville (Group 2) (3yo+) (Round Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m4½f

4:10 Goodwood - Weatherbys Racing Bank Supreme Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

4:10 Baden-Baden - 149th Casino Baden-Baden Goldene Peitsche (Group 2) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+) 6f

Brian Healy takes a race-by-race look at Sunday’s european action, and he gives his selections for all five feature races.

1:35 Deauville - Prix de Meautry Barriere (Group 3) (3yo+) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 6f

A strong UK challenge for this Group Three contest, and GLASS SLIPPERS (11/1, Ladbrokes) could prove the pick for Kevin Ryan.

The Dream Ahead filly has been in decent fettle since a pipe-opening debut at Newbury back in April when contesting the Fred Darling Stakes, and although she beat only one home on that occasion she has improved for the run to post solid efforts at Haydock, Ayr and York prior to getting back to winning ways here earlier in the month.

She ran out a short-head winner over Bravo Sierra on that latest run, which came in a Listed contest, and she won well despite behind carried right by the runner-up with the pair clear of the third and rest.

This is slightly more difficult back in a Group Three, but it appears a relatively ordinary race for this level and she probably doesn’t need to improve too much to feature.

2:50 Deauville - Prix Quincey Barriere (Group 3) (4yo+) (Straight Course) (Turf) (4yo+) 1m

CROWN WALK (5/1, Ladbrokes) may have needed the run on her reappearance at Saint-Cloud in the Group Three Prix Edmond Blanc, and while the Dubawi filly has another absence to overcome she could be worth chancing to make a winning reappearance.

Henri-Alex Pantall’s charge showed only fair form for Charlie Appleby prior to joining this yard, and she was progressive last term, winning two of her four outings which included a Group Three at Chantilly, and she was denied only by With You in the Prix Rothschild where she was beaten three lengths.

Not disgraced in an outing at Keeneland in October, she likely has more to offer and if fully wound up on her reappearance from another five-month absence then it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see her going close.

3:30 Deauville - Lucien Barriere Grand Prix de Deauville (Group 2) (3yo+) (Round Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m4½f

ZIYAD (3/1, Paddy Power) has rattled the crossbar the last twice, but the Rock Of Gibraltar gelding can get back to winning ways here having not been beaten far in either of those runner-up efforts.

Cristophe Laffon-Parias’ charge finished third to the smart Silverwave at Lyon-Parilly back in May in Listed company, and he stepped up on that performance to chase home Aspetar at Chantilly next time in the Group Two Grand Prix de Chantilly.

However, he posted an even better run latest in the Group One Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud where only Coronet bested him by a short-neck, and a repeat of that effort could prove good enough to see him get back on the scoresheet here.

4:10 Goodwood - Weatherbys Racing Bank Supreme Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

A strong renewal of this Group Three contest, and LIMATO (7/2, William Hill) can get back on the scoresheet having found things happening too quickly for him in the July Cup latest.

Henry Candy’s charge is 2-2 in Group Three company, and while he possibly the force he once was he does remain capable of smart form as he showed when beating Glorious Journey to win the recent Criterion Stakes over this trip at Newmarket.

A three-time winner last term, which included back in a Group Two in the Challenge Stakes, he has since seen that Criterion form boosted by the runner-up subsequently winning the Hungerford Stakes.

On that run he holds the reopposing Suedois who is hard to win with, and he might lack the pace now to be effective at six furlongs so a return to seven furlongs where he has won five of seven starts at this yardage ought to see him in a better light.

This is easier than the July Cup, and most of his rivals have trouble getting their head in front. While he has to give weight away, he could prove too good for this field, and he can return to winning ways.

4:10 Baden-Baden - 149th Casino Baden-Baden Goldene Peitsche (Group 2) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+) 6f

Ed Walker sends ROYAL INTERVENTION (5/2, Bet365) to Germany for this assignment, and the Exceed and Excel filly can get back on the scoresheet.

The lightly-raced sort won on her penultimate start when successful over Shades Of Blue in the Group Three Summer Stakes at York last month, scoring by a neck, and she was subsequently far from disgraced when beaten only two lengths behind Billesdon Brook at Goodwood next time.

Perhaps ridden too aggressively on that occasion and failing to quite see out the trip, she ought to be suited by this return to six furlongs where she can bounce back with a better effort, and while this demands a shade more back in a Group Two there is a suspicion that she has more to offer.

She can give a good account here and every chance she can resume winning ways under Gerald Mosse.
