Sunday 30 June horse racing tips - Race-by-race selections for the pick of Sunday's European racing action

Saint Cloud hosts some cracking Sunday horse racing action.

Brian Healy looks ahead to Sunday's European horse racing action where he gives his race-by-race selections for the pick of the day's racing from Saint Cloud, Hamburg and San Siro.

Some classy horse racing action goes to post across Europe on Sunday, where the Group One Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud dominates the action on the sabbath.

A seven-runner field goes to post for the feature race of the day at the French venue, while there is also Group Two action on the card.

1:00 Saint Cloud - Prix de Saint-Patrick (Listed Race) (3yo Colts & Geldings) (Turf) (3yo) 1m
3:25 Saint Cloud - Prix de Malleret (Group 2) (3yo Fillies) (Turf) (3yo) 1m4f
4:00 Saint Cloud - Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Group 1) (4yo+) (Turf) (4yo+) 1m4f
4:05 Hamburg - pferdewetten.de Grosser Hansa-Preis (Group 2) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m4f
4:35 Saint Cloud - Prix Eugene Adam (Group 2) (3yo) (Turf) (3yo) 1m2f
7:40 San Siro - Premio del Giubileo (Group 3) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m1f

Meanwhile, Hamburg in Germany also host some Group Two action, while there is Group Three action at San Siro in Italy. Brian Healy has selections for all six classy races on Sunday across the continent.

1:00 Saint Cloud - Prix de Saint-Patrick (Listed Race) (3yo Colts & Geldings) (Turf) (3yo) 1m

None of this quartet can be safely ruled out, but BOARDMAN (5/2, Paddy Power) boasts winning course and distance form and gets the vote to follow up his success here in May where the Kingman colt ran out a head winner over Zarkallani.

Pascal Bary’s charge had stepped up on a promising debut at Deauville last July behind Peronne to find only the smart Persian King too strong on his next outing at Chantilly in September where he proved no match for the easy winner.

He took another forward step latest, and he looks sure to continue to improve judged on that evidence which suggested he had more still to offer. The runner-up and third horse home from that race have both won since, and with the potential for better still to come he gets the vote to come out on top here.

3:25 Saint Cloud - Prix de Malleret (Group 2) (3yo Fillies) (Turf) (3yo) 1m4f

MEHDAAYIH (10/11, Paddy Power) racked up a hat-trick of wins either side of a break, which included a Listed win at Chester with an impressive defeat of Manuela De Vega to win the Cheshire Oaks.

John Gosden’s Frankel filly subsequently wasn’t disgraced behind Anapurna in the Epsom Oaks when last seen, eventually crossing the line in seventh where she endured a luckless passage up the straight and was constantly denied a clear run.

This smaller field could see her to better effect, and she’s likely to prove better than she was able to show in that fillies’ Classic last time out.

With a bit more luck in running then she ought to prove a tough nut to crack here with Frankie Dettori in the saddle, and the pair can get back on the scoresheet despite the Epsom Oaks form having taken a couple of knocks since.

4:00 Saint Cloud - Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Group 1) (4yo+) (Turf) (4yo+) 1m4f

MORGAN LE FAYE (3/1, Coral) has looked potentially top-class this term, registering three bloodless wins which includes here latest when beating Listen In by two lengths to land the Prix Corrida.

Andre Fabre’s Shamardal mare has proven to be an ultra-versatile performer, making the frame twice last term in Group Ones over radically different trips when finishing third in both the Prix du Cadran and the Prix Royal-Oak; but she is 3-3 this term over ten furlongs, and she gave the impression latest that she wasn’t done improving yet.

She only needed to be pushed out latest to win convincingly from Listen In and Shahnaza, and the step up to twelve furlongs for this return to Group One company certainly won’t hold any fears.

With the potential for further improvement still to come, she could well prove a tough nut to crack again and she is taken to extend her winning run this term to four.

4:05 Hamburg - pferdewetten.de Grosser Hansa-Preis (Group 2) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m4f

Henri-Alex Pantall makes a raid on this German Group Two contest with FRENCH KING (7/4, William Hill) who can extend his unbeaten run to three.

The French Fifteen colt has already mounted one successful raid on German turf, winning the recent Group Two Carl Jaspers-Preis with a narrow defeat of Be My Sheriff, where he overcame some trouble in running to score a shade readily.

The third and fourth horses home from that race have both run well in defeat since, while the fifth home won next time out so the form is decent, and there could still be better to come from him with that run likely to bring him on again after a break.

He should continue to give a good account of himself here, and he can collect another valuable prize to take back to France.

4:35 Saint Cloud - Prix Eugene Adam (Group 2) (3yo) (Turf) (3yo) 1m2f

JALMOUD (11/2, Paddy Power) is given another chance having raced too keenly at Ascot last week in the Queen’s Vase and appearing not to get home in the ground as a consequence.

Charlie Appleby’s New Approach colt had won both previous starts, scoring over this trip at Newmarket prior to following up in Listed company at Longchamp next time with a defeat of Soft Light where he scored by a head.

He was eased off at Ascot last time having pulled too hard for his own good and refusing to settle, and he was a spent force some way out. James Doyle looked after him though, and he could bounce back here as he returns to a more suitable distance.

That Ascot run is discarded as a consequence, and if he can settle better this time around back in trip then he could quickly get back on the winning trail.

7:40 San Siro - Premio del Giubileo (Group 3) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m1f

FULMINIX () has gone close the last twice, denied by a half-length in Listed and Group Three company respectively at this venue; the Blu Air Force colt can get back on the scoresheet here however.

Endo Botti’s charge posted his sole career success to date at Rome last September when landing the Premio Nogaret; but he went close here last time out in the Premio Carlo Vittadini when just touched off behind Anda Muchacho and the extra furlong here might help deliver a jolt of improvement.

He came with a strong challenge in that last outing, but he appeared to just lack an extra gear when it mattered. He had the reopposing Time To Choose behind him that day, and he is 2lbs better off with that rival so should confirm that form; while the booking of Antonio Fresu for this assignment catches the eye; the pair can combine to get back on the scoresheet here.
