Sunday's European horse racing tips - Selections for the pick of Sunday's European horse racing action

Deauville features on Sunday's international fixture list.

Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections for the pick of Sunday's European horse racing action from Deauville, Munich and Pontefract.

There is plenty of quality horse racing action going to post across Europe on Sunday with the Group One Prix Roshschild taking centre stage of the day at Deauville on a racecard which also includes Group Three and Listed action .

Elsewhere, there is Group One action in Germany at Munich with the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis - Bayerisches Zuchtrennen; while there is also Listed action closer to home at Pontefract with the Pomfret Stakes.

2:50 Deauville - Prix Rothschild (Group 1) (3yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m
3:40 Munich - Grosser Dallmayr-Preis - Bayerisches Zuchtrennen (Group 1) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m2f
3:55 Pontefract - Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Summer Festival Pomfret Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m RTV
4:00 Deauville - Prix de Tourgeville (Listed Race) (3yo Colts & Geldings) (Round Course) (Turf) (3yo) 1m
4:35 Deauville - Darley Prix de Cabourg (Group 3) (2yo) (Straight Course) (Turf) (2yo) 6f

Brian Healy takes a look at all five quality races on Sunday and gives his selections for the day’s feature events.

2:50 Deauville - Prix Rothschild (Group 1) (3yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m

LAURENS (5/2, Bet365) went the wrong way following her encouraging reappearance run in the Lockinge, subsequently disappointing when fading into sixth behind Lord Glitters in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Karl Burke’s charge however is taken to bounce back despite some doubts surrounding the ground, and the Siyouni filly can regain the winning thread.

A five-time Group One winner, she takes on her own sex here and she has won on good-to-soft ground in the past. Assuming she can handle the deeper conditions - disappointed on her last try on proper soft ground - then she could be tough to beat if coming back to her best.

3:40 Munich - Grosser Dallmayr-Preis - Bayerisches Zuchtrennen (Group 1) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m2f

DANCETERIA (9/4, Bet365) is 2-4 this term, scoring wins at Maisons-Laffite and Longchamp in a Group Three contest either side of finishing a good third to Regal Reality in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown.

David Menuisier’s Redoute’s Choice gelding subsequently posted a very creditable fourth of eight runners behind Enable in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes back at Sandown and a repeat of that effort will put him firmly in the mix here.

Beaten around five lengths, he finished ahead of the likes of Mustashry, Hunting Horn and Telecaster, and that form has certainly been done no harm since by the winner scoring a second King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes crown.

This doesn’t look the strongest of Group One fields, so he could well take advantage and return to the winners’ enclosure.

3:55 Pontefract - Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Summer Festival Pomfret Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m

KHAFOO SHEMEMI (2/1, Bet365) showed some smart form when in the care of Richard Hannon, winning four times for that handler which included a pair of Sandown Listed races.

The Dark Angel gelding was absent for more than one year following his third behind Arod in a Listed contest last May at Windsor, and he has subsequently joined Sir Michael Stoute.

He made a pleasing return to action on his first outing for his new handler, finishing four lengths’ third behind Matterhorn in the Listed Midsummer Stakes, and likely to be much sharper now with that run under his belt he can build on that run to get back on the scoresheet

4:00 Deauville - Prix de Tourgeville (Listed Race) (3yo Colts & Geldings) (Round Course) (Turf) (3yo) 1m

DAN (8/1, Paddy Power) arrives here chasing a hat-trick of wins having already been successful in back-to-back races at La Teste De Buch, latterly beating Markhor by four lengths.

Jean-Claude Rouget thrusts the Slade Power colt into a stronger race now, but he has shown a smart level of ability and could well find further improvement to take the step up in class in his stride.

This is a strong race for the grade however, and a decent case could be made for all seven runners; however, he has looked a horse going places in recent successes and it would be no surprise to see him find another jolt of progress.

4:35 Deauville - Darley Prix de Cabourg (Group 3) (2yo) (Straight Course) (Turf) (2yo) 6f

WELL OF WISDOM (11/4, William Hill) represents Godolphin and Charlie Appleby, and the Oasis Dream colt can follow up his latest win at Longchamp earlier in the month where he ran out a neck winner over Helter Skelter.

A debut winner at Newmarket over five furlongs, he has been been beaten on both tries over six furlongs, one of which came in the Coventry Stakes where he finished ninth. However he has shown enough speed to be effective back at this distance having struck over seven furlongs latest.

He appeared to be suited by the softer ground last time out, and if he can cope with the even softer ground here then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him going close.
