Sunday's international horse racing tips - Selections for Sunday's meetings at Longchamp, San Siro and Naas

Longchamp race on Sunday.

Brian Healy gives his race by race selections and best bets for Sunday's meetings at Longchamp, San Siro and Naas.

Lots of good racing goes to post across Europe with classy Listed and Group action taking place in France at Longchamp, and also in Italy at San Siro where four Group Two contests are on the agenda at the Milan venue.

There are also two Listed races taking place on Sunday at Naas with the Garnet Stakes and Bluebell Stakes both on a classy racecard.

2:15 Longchamp - Prix de Saint-Cyr (Listed Race) (3yo Fillies) (New Course: 2nd Post) (Turf) (3yo) 7f

2:30 San Siro - Gran Criterium (Group 2) (2yo Colts & Fillies) (Media Course) (Turf) (2yo) 7½f

3:25 Longchamp - Prix du Conseil de Paris (Group 2) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m3f

3:30 Naas - Naas Racecourse Business Club Irish EBF Garnet Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) 1m

3:50 San Siro - Premio Vittorio di Capua (Group 2) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m

4:00 Naas - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) 1m4f

4:30 San Siro - Premio Dormello (Group 2) (2yo Fillies) (Media Course) (Turf) (2yo) 1m

4:35 Longchamp - Prix du Ranelagh (Listed Race) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m

Brian Healy looks ahead to the pick of Sunday’s Pattern races across the continent and gives his race-by-race selections for the day’s feature races.

2:15 Longchamp - Prix de Saint-Cyr (Listed Race) (3yo Fillies) (New Course: 2nd Post) (Turf) (3yo) 7f

Charlie Appleby and Sir Mark Prescott both send out runners for this Listed prize, but MATEMATICA (7/2, Bet365) can keep the winners’ purse at home, and Carlos Laffon-Parias’ charge can follow up her latest win at Saint-Cloud earlier in the month.

The Rock Of Gibraltar filly opened her account on her reappearance at Chantilly back in April, after which she has been contesting in Group company with some credit although she never managed to trouble the judge.

However, her latest run saw her sluice through some testing ground over seven furlongs to beat Milord’s Song readily, and with conditions likely to be similar here she might be able to repeat the dose.

As a juvenile she was only beaten a neck on just her second career start in the Prix Marcel Boussac; and if she can replicate the performance she delivered last time out then she can follow up here.

2:30 San Siro - Gran Criterium (Group 2) (2yo Colts & Fillies) (Media Course) (Turf) (2yo) 7½f

RUBAIYAT (SP) can continue his winning run having won a Group Three last time out at Cologne, and Henk Grewe’s German raider can collect this Group Two prize.

The Areion colt latterly ran out a three-parts of a length winner over Wonderful Moon, having earlier beaten a useful sort in Frankel’s Storm to win a German Listed contest at Dusseldorf.

Versatile with regards to ground, this slightly lesser test of stamina is unlikely to present too much of an issue, and the progressive sort could have more to offer as she bids to maintain her unbeaten record and she can claim this prize.

2:50 Longchamp - Prix Casimir Delamarre - Fonds Europeen de l'Elevage (Listed Race) (3yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Moyenne) (3yo+) 1m1f

It might be worth forgiving BOWLED OVER’s (6/1, Paddy Power) last outing in a Listed contest at Saint-Cloud last month where the Kingman filly may just have needed the run, while the faster ground might not have been ideal.

Francois Henri-Graffard’s charge had made a winning debut at Maisons-Laffitte in heavy ground when beating Sabi River back in May, after which she followed up with a success here the following month before a three-month absence.

She ought to strip fitter with that outing under her belt, where she wasn’t seen to best effect; but faced here with much more testing conditions she may be capable of bouncing back to winning form and she’s not one to write off just yet given she still has the potential to improve.

3:10 San Siro - Gran Premio del Jockey Club (Group 2) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m4f

CHESTNUT HONEY (SP) could prove the answer to this Group Two puzzle where none of the five runners can be confidently ruled out.

Alduino Botti’s charge arrives here on the back of a hat-trick of successes the last of the which came when winning the Group Two Premio Federico Tesio at this venue last month, beating Royal Julius by a short-neck.

He appeared to be idling in front so could well have more to offer, and the No Nay Never colt is 3-3 at this track, including a win over this trip so every chance he can find another jolt of improvement to extend his unbeaten sequence and maintain his good record at this track.

3:25 Longchamp - Prix du Conseil de Paris (Group 2) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m3f

The feature race of Sunday’s Longchamp racecard can go the way of SILVERWAVE (7/1, Bet365) who will relish the return to much more testing conditions, and Fabrice Vermeulens Silver Frost entire can bounce back to winning ways here.

A back-to-back winner earlier in the campaign, he finished third in the Grand Prix de Chantilly in June before finding only one too good in the Grand Prix de Lyon next time before taking a three months break.

He returned to action at this venue in September where she finished last of four runners behind subsequent Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Waldgeist although he was only beaten just over three lengths.

He may not have been best suited by the faster ground that day, but back on a much slower surface and with his sights lowered out of Group company into a more suitable grade then he could go close here.

3:30 Naas - Naas Racecourse Business Club Irish EBF Garnet Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) 1m

TRETHIAS (7/2, Bet365) won a Listed contest here earlier in the month, beating Search For A Song, and Jessica Harrington’s charge could be worth chancing back at this level to regain winning was.

The Invincible Spirit filly has been running in Group company since that win, finishing third in the Group Three Snow Fairy Stakes, and latterly beaten less than two lengths behind the progressive Fanny Logan at Newmarket in the Darley Pride Stakes.

The drop back to one mile is unlikely to faze her, and with cheekpieces retained she could continue to go well easing down into a Listed contest where she can post a big effort assuming the soft ground doesn’t present an issue.

3:50 San Siro - Premio Vittorio di Capua (Group 2) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m

ANDA MUCHACHO (SP) arrives here in search of a hat-trick of wins, and the Helmet entire could deliver for Nicolo Simondi.

A dual-Group Three winner from his last two starts over this course and distance, he had previously found only Stormy Antarctic too strong in heavy ground at Cappanelle in a Group Two contest.

He had won this corresponding race twelve months ago, beating Degas by three-parts of a length which capped a five-race winning streak, and he looks sure to give a good account as he bids to defend his crown.

Jockey Antonio Fresu is 2-2 on the son of Helmet, and he could prove a tough nut to crack here with the potential for better still to come on the back of his latest win which came on his first outing for almost four months.

4:00 Naas - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) 1m4f

KISS FOR A JEWEL (11/2, Bet365) is going the right way and arrives chasing a hat-trick of wins; Dermot Weld’s charge could prove equal to the task and collect a third straight win.

The Kingman filly showed some progressive form over the summer, making the frame in all three starts prior to a short break; but the application of cheekpieces has seen her take her form to a new level, and she ran out a ready winner in testing ground at Tipperary in August before following up the next month at Fairyhouse where she beat Metier by almost two lengths.

This is a tougher assignment, while she has to prove her stamina for this longer trip having not yet raced beyond ten furlongs. However, the manner of her win last time suggested the additional distance would be no issue, while she looks progressive still and could yet have more to offer so may be worth chancing to continue her improvement where she can land the three-timer here.

4:30 San Siro - Premio Dormello (Group 2) (2yo Fillies) (Media Course) (Turf) (2yo) 1m

NIGHT COLOURS (SP) is one of a trio of runners in this Group Two contest from UK-based yards, and Simon Crisford’s charge could add to her tally of wins.

The Night Of Thunder filly has looked a progressive sort in her three starts to date, scoring at Ffos Las in September befpre possibly just finding the run in heavy ground at Epsom two weeks later coming just too soon.

The winner of that contest looked smart, and there may be better still to come from her with the potential for improvement as she steps up in class.

That run showed she could handle heavy ground, and she may be able to find another jolt of progress to post a big effort.

4:35 Longchamp - Prix du Ranelagh (Listed Race) (3yo+) (Grande Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 1m

MOUNT PELION (2/1, Paddy Power) could follow up his reappearance win at this venue last month if handling the much slower conditons, but Andre Fabre’s charge could be worth chancing to do so given he remains thoroughly unexposed after just three starts.

The Raven’s Pass was a debut winner at Chantilly back in November 2017, and he was absent for six month before his next outing at this venue where he beat only one home.

However, following that outing he was subsequently absent for 501 days and gelded, but he showed no ill effects from his lengthy absence to get back on the scoresheet with an impressive win back here latest.

After such an absence there is a chance that he could ‘bounce’ on the back of that return; but if he is none the worse and indeed can take a forward step for the outing from which he should strip fitter then he could follow up that success.
