ITV Racing tips Friday 11 October - Live TV tips for Newmarket, Chepstow and York

The ITV Racing cameras will have live TV racing from Newmarket, Chepstow and York on Friday

Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections for Friday's televised horse racing action from Newmarket, Chepstow and York.

The ITV Racing cameras are in action on Friday with a bumper eight-race card which covers the pick of the day’s action from three meetings across the UK.

The cameras will be in attendance for the opening day of the 2019/20 National Hunt season at Chepstow which features the Grade Two Persian War Novices’ Hurdle; while at Newmarket there is the Group One Fillies’ Mile on a top-class racecard which also features Group Two and Group Three racing.

And there is competitive handicap action also on the Knavesmire at York to complete Friday’s televised action.

Ed Chamberlain and the team will be on hand as usual to offer their usual expert tips, insights and post-race analysis of all the TV action, and Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections for Friday’s eight televised races.

1:50 Newmarket - Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f

DREAM SHOT (12/1, Coral) could be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet having found only A’Ali too good in the recent Flying Childers Stakes, and a reproduction of that run could be good enough for James Tates’ charge.

The Dream Ahead colt was a debut winner, scoring at Goodwood, after which he made the frame in outings at both Beverley and Sandown  in a Listed contest behind Liberty Beach.

Having possibly failed to handle the track at Goodwood when finishing seventh in the Richmond Stakes, he quickly got back on track with a Chelmsford win; and his latest silver medal saw him bounce back from a lesser run at York behind Alligator Alley where he was perhaps unlucky not to finish closer having met trouble in running.

This is a shade easier than his last outing behind Simon Crisford’s charge, and the likelihood of a strong pace and the stiff uphill finish should both suit so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see a big run as he bids to get back on track.

2:10 Chepstow - Unibet Persian War Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m3½f

HARAMBE (6/1, Bet365) could be the one to side with to make a winning return to action.

Alan King’s charge took a little while to warm to his task over hurdles, but since making the breakthrough at Kempton back in March the Malinas gelding has found significant progress with a further win at Market Rasen in April before chasing home the smart Getaway Trump when last seen out at Sandown at the end of that month.

Placed in a Grade Two bumper on just his third start, finishing third to Portrush Ted at Aintree, he looks one who could have more to offer over hurdles this term now he appears to really be getting his act together.

2:25 Newmarket - Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 7f

STYLISTIQUE (11/4, William Hill) found only Daahyeh too strong here in the Shadwel Rockfel Stakes, and Roger Varian’s charge could prove tough to beat if she can run up to that level while easing slightly in grade.

Roger Varian’s charge is yet to win in five starts, but she has made the frame in all starts to date and her debut aside she hasn’t been beaten far in any of her outings. She most recently came up only a half-length short behind her stablemate, and she boasts solid claims with a repeat.

The Dansili filly was arguably unlucky not to have opened her account the time before, and her latest run puts her firmly in the mix here so every chance she can go close if she can reproduce that last run.

2:40 York - Racebets Money Back 2nd 3rd 4th Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-100) 1m

ALEMARATALYOUM (15/2, Ladbrokes) got back on the winning trail at Goodwood latest, handling the heavy ground well, and Stuart Williams’ charge can follow up here especially if the rain arrives and the ground deteriorates.

The Lope De Vega gelding has been largely consistent in recent runs, twice finishing third on the all-weather at Chelmsford and bagging a silver medal on turf at Chester back in August; and he got back on the scoresheet with a four lengths’ defeat of Glen Shiel latest.

A subsequent 7lbs rise in the weights for that success is largely offset by the claim of Marco Ghiani, whose 7lbs allowance could prove crucial in this stronger race. However, he is chanced in the hope that the ground comes right for him, and if it does then it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him go in again.

3:00 Newmarket - Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards Challenge Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

Soft ground is a concern for a few of these, but SHINE SO BRIGHT (9/4, Bet365) wasn’t disgraced on his only previous experience of these conditions and could be worth siding with to upset standard-setting Mustashry who heads the official ratings.

Andrew Balding’s charge has shown progressive form this term, beating Space Traveller on his seasonal debut in Listed company here in April, and he subsequently was far from disgraced when finishing sixth in the Qipco 2000 Guineas next time.

He was given a break following that Classic outing, and he narrowly outpointed the classy Laurens to win the City Of York Stakes in August, and he can be forgiven his latest run at Doncaster behind Sir Dancealot in the Park Stakes when last seen where he did far too much too soon having raced away from the main pack.

He is better than he was able to show on that occasion, and if he were to come back to his best form then it is unlikely he’ll be far away.

3:35 Newmarket - bet365 Fillies' Mile (Group 1) Cl1 (2yo) 1m

A strong renewal of this Group One prize which features a trio of unbeaten fillies, and POWERFUL BREEZE (6/1, Bet365) can maintain her perfect record and extend her winning sequence to three wins from three starts.

Hugo Palmer’s Iffraaj filly was an impressive debut scorer here on the July Course back in August, after which she stepped up on that experience to defeat the well-regarded Boomer over this trip in the Group Two May Hill Stakes.

She appeared to win a shade comfortably that day, coming with a strong late run and despite needing to be switched was well on top at the line, finding plenty.

This is clearly tougher stepping into a Group One contest and taking on some equally talented and potentially smart rivals; but she’s clearly a decent sort in her own right, and if she can handle the forecast softer ground then she can give another good account as she bids to remain unbeaten.

3:50 York - Racebets Handicap Cl2 (3yo) 1m6f

DEAL A DOLLAR (8/1, Ladbrokes) has done his winning on the all-weather, but Sir Michael Stoute’s charge could represent a touch of value back on the turf.

The Frankel colt has finished runner-up or better in all but one of his seven starts to date, failing only at Goodwood where he possibly didn’t act on the track that day behind Aktau. However, he bounced back from that disappointment when fitted with blinkers to win readily at Kempton in August and he almost followed up at Wolverhampton next time behind Cantiniere.

Having regained the winning thread at Newcastle latest with a defeat of Natty Night, winning comfortably off a fast pace despite missing the break, he has been raised 7lbs for that success but could still be improving and may have more to offer back on turf.

Assuming he can handle the switch in surface, he can give a good account and while probably needing a shade more on balance he can go well here.

4:10 Newmarket - bet365 Old Rowley Cup Handicap (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo) 1m4f

DEVERO (8/1, Coral) arrives here chasing a hat-trick of wins, and Sir Michael Stoute’s can collect a third straight success here.

The Dansili colt has won three of his four starts in all this term, latterly beating Claire Underwood by three-parts of a length at Newcastle back in July where he struck a shade cosily having travelled well into the contest.

That form is perhaps only ordinary, but he remains open to improvement and hinted in that latest win that he still had more to offer so a subsequent 5lbs rise in the weights may not prove enough of a burden to prevent a follow-up win.

Ryan Moore takes the reins for this hat-trick bid, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him post a big effort where he can strike again back on turf.
