Lightly-raced OK CORRAL (7/2, Ladbrokes) made a good impression when scoring on his chase debut at Plumpton in December, and Nicky Henderson’s charge can follow up here.

A smart hurdler, finishing runner-up to Kilbricken Storm in the Albert Bartlett last month having won at Kempton the time before, the Mahler gelding overcame inexperience to score cosily from Impulsive Star despite making a mid-race blunder.

He is sure to have learnt plenty from the experience, and in receipt of 5lbs from prolific Rocky’s Treasure he can make the most of the weight concession he receives to double up on his win tally over fences.

A cracking contest in prospect and TOP NOTCH (13/8, Ladbrokes) can live up to his name and resume winning ways back over fences.

Nicky Henderson’s Poliglote gelding developed into a top-class chaser last term, winning both the Christy 1965 Chase and the Peterborough Chase prior to finding Waiting Patiently too strong in the Ascot Chase, eventually finishing fourth in that Grade One contest.

He wasn’t down for long however, and he bounced back to winning form with a defeat of Art Mauresque at Sandown in April too claim the Oaksey Chase, and he ran a screamer back from a break when tackling the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot where he finished third behind Paisley Park.

He has shown through his career that he often needs his first run, but he should strip much fitter now for his return to action and he can get back on the scoresheet returning to the larger obstacles.

While he faces some classy rivals the good ground here is likely to suit him better than either Charbel or Black Corton - who drops in trip - and likely to appreciate going back over fences he rates the one to beat.

Course form can count for plenty, and STONEY MOUNTAIN (7/1, William Hill) could be worth chancing to win again having already won two of his three starts over timber.

Henry Daly’s Mountain High gelding also won twice in bumpers, which includes at this venue last January prior to taking in the Champion Bumper between wins. Also a Bangor winner, he struck on his hurdles debut at Aintree, beating Aye Aye Charlie by a neck; after which he went down only narrowly behind the potentially smart Doux Pretender.

A quick resumption of winning ways followed when he ran out an impressive winner at Southwell last month, beating Golden Whisky by eleven lengths, and with the potential to do better still he could find further improvement.

A course winner who has shown versatility with regards to ground and likely to find this slightly longer trip no issue then he could post a big effort for his shrewd yard.

Nicky Henderson won this race twelve months ago when the smart William Henry landed top honours, and the Seven Barrows maestro could collect again with DOUX PRETENDER (9/1, William Hill) who found a Grade Two at Cheltenham over three miles stretching him.

A winner of races at Towcester and Ascot previously, with the latter coming over this trip, the Great Pretender gelding remains unexposed over hurdles and may have been let in lightly on his handicap debut.

A five lengths’ victor over Renwick back in May, scoring easily, he was value for more than the official winning margin when beating Stoney Mountain latest despite hanging left on the run-in. That runner-up won next time out, and while he was no match for Rockpoint at Cheltenham subsequently in the Bristol Novices’ Hurdle he could do better back in trip.

He ran off a rating of 134 on that occasion, and stepping into a handicap here for the first time he could have more to offer if handling this much sharper track. He appeared to take a while to hit top gear at Cheltenham latest, not ideally positioned when the pace was cranked up a notch, but he kept on well nonetheless although he was always on the back foot.

This contest is normally run at a decent pace however which might help, and he has the scope to be a big player off this rating.

A few of those in the line-up for this Grade Three contest are in their veteran years, while several look high enough in the weights; however, CAROLE’S DESTRIER (8/1, William Hill) despite very much falling into the veteran’s category as a twelve year old is one who is well handicapped on the pick of his form, and Neil Mulholland’s charge can follow up his recent return to winning ways at Newbury,

The Kayf Tara found only the subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Native River too strong when narrowly denied behind that rival in the 2017 Hennessy Gold Cup from a much higher mark than he finds himself on here, and while his form since has produced a mixed bag of results he didn’t have his favoured ground in several of his subsequent runs.

However, he bounced back on a better surface last time, beating Ballyhill a shade readily and the handicapper has only pushed him up 3lbs for that success which looks very fair.

Assuming this doesn’t come too soon just two weeks on, he figures from a very winnable mark and if turning out here in similar form to Newbury then he ought to go close.

BARNEY DWAN (3/1, Coral) won twice over fences last term, scoring at Market Rasen and Musselburgh prior to registering a very good fourth behind Mister Whitaker in the Close Brothers’ Chase at the Festival.

Fergal O’Brien’s charge was a faller next time at Aintree, but he has bounced back this term with a couple of solid runs in defeat behind Charbel at Chepstow, and Yala Enki at Bangor latest where he finished third, although a faller surely helped his finishing position.

The Vinnie Roe gelding wasn’t always convincing with his jumping, but he features here from a winnable mark and assuming his jumping holds up then he could get back on the scoresheet.

Barney Dwan can get back on the winning trail at Kempton.

3:35 Warwick - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (Series Qualifier) Cl2 (5yo+) 3m1f

KEEPER HILL (8/1, Coral) has shown more of his old self since returning to hurdling having lost his way last term over fences despite winning two of his first three outings in that discipline, with later runs blighted by jumping errors.

Tom George’s charge had been a highly progressive hurdler during the 2016/17 season, winning three times which included a Listed race prior to finishing seventh behind Willoughby Court in that season’s Neptune Hurdle.

Although last of five on his reappearance behind Nautical Nitwit in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby in November, he subsequently built on that return to find only one too good from a reduced mark at Cheltenham last month, travelling well before finding only one pace on the climb to the line.

A 3lbs rise in the weights is offset by the claim of promising conditional Harry Teal, and it would be no surprise to see him post another big effort here.
