The ITV Racing team have six races live on Saturday from Doncaster, Chelmsford and Chester.

Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections and best bets across all of Saturday's live TV horse racing action.

A six-race card of live TV horse racing action awaits armchair punters on Saturday where the final day of the Doncaster St Leger Festival takes centre stage of the afternoon.

The season’s final Classic race is the feature race of Saturday’s televised coverage, which sees four races from Doncaster which also includes the competitive Portland Handicap and the Group Two Park Stakes.

There is also one race each from Chester and Chelmsford on the all-weather.

1:50 Doncaster - William Hill Portland Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 5½f

2:05 Chester - Sportpesa Stand Cup Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4½f

2:25 Doncaster - Hird Rail Group Park Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

2:45 Chelmsford - luxdeco.com Elsenham Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 7f

Ed Chamberlain and the team will have their usual expert tips, insights and post-race analysis across all six races, and Brian Healy gives his selections for every live TV race on Saturday.

1:50 Doncaster - William Hill Portland Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 5½f

EQUITATION (16/1, Bet365) won a shade readily in the Sodexo Handicap at Ascot earlier in the month, and Stuart Williams’ charge could be worth siding with despite a 7lbs rise in the weights.

The Equiano gelding has proven to be a largely consistent sort throughout the season, winning at Windsor in May and making the frame on six other occasions prior to getting back on the scoresheet with his latest Ascot conquest.

He ran out a two lengths’ winner over Iconic Knight, held up early and then coming through with a strong run, and there could be more in the locker judging on that run which hinted that he may not have reached his ceiling.

Proven in these big field contests, he probably has to find a shade more improvement to feature; but he represents a yard in good form, and if his high draw doesn’t prove a hindrance then he could go close here.

2:05 Chester - Sportpesa Stand Cup Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4½f

SEXTANT (13/2, Ladbrokes) may have found the soft ground against him when disappointing behind Technician in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury last month, but Sir Michael Stoute’s charge had looked progressive on better ground previously where he racked up three wins from his previous four starts following a gelding operation.

The Sea The Stars gelding had shown some useful form as a three-year old, winning at Newbury, and he has since racked up further wins at Ascot twice and Windsor prior his last outing back at Newbury in that Group Three contest.

He should be more appreciative of this drop back in trip and better ground, and taking a slight ease in grade he can bounce back to winning ways in this Listed prize.

2:25 Doncaster - Hird Rail Group Park Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f

Older horses have won four of the last five renewals of this race, including Breton Rock who turns out again; but It might be worth chancing SIR DANCEALOT (5/1, Paddy Power) to avenge his recent defeat at York behind Shine So Bright, and David Elsworth’s charge can post an improved effort.

The five-year old Sir Prancealot gelding is at his best over seven furlongs, and he bounced back to winning form when outpointing Hey Gaman to win the Group Two Lennox Stakes at Goodwood back in July.

Not at his best next time in the Hungerford Stakes where the softer ground was against him, his run in the City Of York Stakes may have come too soon just seven days later and he has been given more of a break ahead of this reappearance.

He was also trying to give 8lbs to the winner, and having been beaten four lengths on the Knavesmire he looks to hold a decent chance of reversing that form on 4lbs better terms. Having had a bit of a breather since that York outing, he could bounce back over a course and distance over which he has won before, and no surprise to see him go close here.

2:45 Chelmsford - luxdeco.com Elsenham Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 7f

WAR GLORY (11/2, Bet365) has won his last two starts at this venue, latterly beating a few of these to win the Chelmsford Cup last month; Richard Hannon’s charge can follow up having been raised just 3lbs for that success.

The Canford Cliffs charge emerged from a spell in the doldrums on turf to register that last win, but he had hinted at a return to form at Ascot the time before when finishing just over three lengths’ fifth in the Shergar Cup Mile, and he ran out a narrow winner back on this surface latest where he got up on the line for the victory.

His 3lbs rise up the ratings looks workable, and he clearly goes well on this polytrack surface given he boasts a decent track record; he ought to remain competitive then as a result, and he can go close.

3:00 Doncaster - Pommery Champagne Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) Cl1 (2yo) 7f

THREAT (6/5, Paddy Power) proved too good for his field when running out a ready winner of the Gimcrack at York, and Richard Hannon’s charge can follow up here.

The Footstepsinthesand colt was also a debut winner at Newmarket, and he lost little in defeat in subsequent runner-up efforts behind Arizona and Golden Horde respectively in Group Two starts at Ascot and Goodwood prior to getting back on the scoresheet on the Knavesmire.

The third and sixth horses home in the Gimcrack haven’t done the form any harm by running well at this meeting on Thursday, and his earlier Goodwood form has also yielded a couple of subsequent winners.

He steps up in trip here, but he could be suited by the extra furlong and he ought to prove a tough nut to crack in this contest.

3:35 Doncaster - William Hill St Leger Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Colts & Fillies) Cl1 (3yo) 1m6½f

LOGICIAN (Evens, Coral) has looked the real deal in racking up a four-timer, and John Gosden’s charge can make it 5-5 by winning the season’s final Classic.

The Frankel colt has progressed hand over fist in his four starts to date, stepping out of handicap company to win the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, and he can take another forward step.
Also a winner at Newmarket, and Newbury twice, he showed no signs of stopping when tanking along in that York feature and seeing the trip out really well. The form may not be all that strong, but he won in the manner of a horse who likely has a good deal more to offer.

Of course he has to prove that he gets this extra quarter of a mile; but the way he travelled at York suggests this extra yardage will be no issue to him, and he can take another big step up the ladder by claiming another big Group One success for the Gosden and Dettori combination.
