Bet 1 – First £10 Bet

A nice little double to start this bet and both ADJALI and MOMELLA (NAP) boast very strong chances. The two-tone green silks of Munir & Souede haven’t been as prominent this season as they were last, but they clearly have high hopes for Adjali, who bolted up to beat a useful sort in King D’argent on his British debut at Market Rasen.

Nicky Henderson’s recruit will have to see off Quel Destin, who has battled bravely to win two Grade Twos at Cheltenham and Doncaster. Yet, Adjali oozed class on his debut and I think he’ll have enough about him to see off his rivals and claim this valuable Grade One.

Momella looked all over the field when approaching the second-last in the Long Distance Hurdle, only to be brought to a crashing halt. Harry Fry’s decision to turn her out so quickly suggests there are no ill-effects from that tumble. Even under the burden of top-weight, she should be too good for this field of fellow mares and I expect Noel Fehily will ride her like she’s the best horse in the race – which she is.

Bet 2 – £10 Free Bet 1

Paul Nicholl’s novice has been excellent since switching to fences. A convincing win over Highway One O One was followed by a fine runner-up finish at Cheltenham, where Lalor was simply too classy on the day. Dynamite Dollars gained revenge over Lalor in the Henry VIII at Sandown, hacking through the heavy ground to deny Ornua in the closing stages.

Dynamite Dollars will have to should a Grade One penalty, the main reason for his lengthy odds. Yet, I still feel like there’s more to come from this hardy novice and he will give Kalashnikov something to think about.

Dynamite Dollars (near) battles hard to win the Henry VIII Novices Chase at Sandown Park.

Bet 3 - £10 Free Bet

The handicapper has taken a swipe at Nicholls six-year-old, upping him to a career-high 136. However, with Lorcan Williams taking five-pounds off his back, I’d be surprised if that stopped him winning again around a course-and-distance he clearly relished.

Bet 4 – £10 Free Bet

Richard Johnson was in the saddle as Springtown Lake made a winning start to life over fences, carrying 11-13 to victory in a Class Three Handicap. Philip Hobbs’ charge may have lost his 100% chasing record on his most recent start at Haydock, but there was no shame in coming away two lengths behind Mr Whipped, especially when Springtown Lake was giving five pounds to his highly regarded rival.

Philip Hobbs’ stable are in fantastic form at the moment and good ground shouldn’t be an issue. Springtown Lake’s sire Gamut has spawned some excellent stayers – Road To Riches and Road To Respect at the head of the list – and Hobbs’ six-year-old has experience as a point-to-pointer to bolster his claims.
