2018 July Festival day two tips - 48/1 each-way double on Friday

Frankie Dettori (right) could carry the Cheveley Park silks to victory at Newmarket again on Friday.

Our expert has taken a look through all of Friday’s televised races from Newmarket and York and rolled two of his selections together into this each-way double with BetVictor.

Alpha Centauri’s appearance in the Group One Falmouth Stakes will draw most of the headlines on day two of the July Festival. Before we reach the feature race on the card, ITV racing viewers will be treated to three other races from Newmarket and a strong Group Three from York.

Our expert has taken a look through the betting for all of Friday’s televised races and combined two of his tips to make up this profitable each-way double with BetVictor.

Friday’s Each-Way Double

If both were to place then, from a £10 each-way with BetVictor, you’d pocket just under £50. If both selections were to claim victory in their respective races, your total return would be £535 from a £20 overall bet!

2:25pm Newmarket Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (Sponsored By bet365) (Group 2) 6f

Main Edition and La Pelosa battled out a thrilling finish in the Albany Stakes, with Mark Johnston’s filly coming out on top. While both hold appeal once again, I fancy ANGEL’S HIDEAWAY to turn the tables on her rivals after losing out at Royal Ascot.

With most of the pace on the group down the centre of the track, Frankie Dettori had to work hard to get into the Albany Stakes. Aidan O’Brien’s Fairyland broke away from her rivals at the two poll and ran really well to finish third, with Angel’s Hideaway crossing the line just over a length behind her and two behind Main Edition and La Pelosa.

A look through previous running’s of this six furlong sprint will tell you a high draw is advantageous, meaning Frankie could have landed himself on the better side of the track this time around, after drawing stall eight. Angel’s Hideaway has experience running here at Newmarket and John Gosden will have his filly fit and ready to fire.

3:00pm Newmarket bet365 Handicap (Class 2) 1m2f

All of the top six horses in the betting for this handicap are currently rising through the weights and all bring strong form to the table. While Zaaki has placed in Grouped company and Wissahickon looks open to plenty of improvement, William Jarvis’ three-year-old have been in strong form all season and CHIEF IRONSIDE could be a tough nut to crack.

After romping to a superb victory over some capable opposition at Chester, Jarvis’ three-year-old took his chances in the London Gold Cup Handicap. Kieron Shoemark attempted to make all from the front and he was only passed by two rivals entering the final furlong.

Chief Ironside then came here to Newmarket and scored a powerful win on the July course, beating several capable handicappers with another taking, front-running display. Jamie Spencer takes over from the injury-stricken Shoemark and that course-and-distance win could give Chief Ironside the edge in this competitive contest.
