Saturday's ITV Racing tips - Five horses to back at Newmarket and Ascot with Mr Green

Zaaki (right) features on our Saturday accumulator with Mr Green.

We take a look through the cards for all of Saturday's televised races from Newmarket and Ascot and pick out five horses to back using Mr Green’s special welcome offer on Saturday 13th July.

The third and final day of Newmarket's July Meeting revolves around the highlight of the entire festival, the Darley July Cup. Along with that historic sprint, there a couple of intriguing handicaps to take in, plus the Group Two Summer Mile from Ascot.

Our expert has picked out five horses to back in Saturday's ITV races and and shows you how to maximise your profits with Mr Green's welcome offer.

Sign up with Mr Green today and make your first £10 deposit. Once you’ve staked that deposit – whether in a single bet, two £5 bets or ten £1 bets – at odds of 3/1 or greater, you’ll qualify for a free £10 accumulator bet!

2019 July Meeting Day Three Tips

Bet 1 - £5 Bet (First half of your initial deposit)

Burnt Sugar won nicely in this race 12 months ago before following up in the Gigaset International Stakes on his very next start and Roger Fell’s returning champion could be worth an each-way punt, running off a mark just two pounds higher than that he carried to the second of those victories at Ascot.

Spanish City could be hard to keep out of the frame, but the one who catches my eye is SOLAR GOLD, who’s dropping down in class after two solid efforts in Listed company.

After progressing nicely under Charlie Hills tutelage last term, a switch to William Haggas’ red-hot stable came during the off-season and Haggas threw his recruit straight into the six furlong Cecil Frail Stakes at Haydock. Solar Gold proved that day he had plenty of pace to go with his proven one mile stamina, finishing powerfully to finish a half-length runner-up.

A second career-start on the all-weather then followed at Chelmsford and Solar Gold ran another good race in the Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes, following Billesdon Brook and Saturday’s rival, Crossing The Line home in third. Solar Gold’s ratings show he’s a horse still on the upgrade and his current mark of 96 looks there to be exploited.

Bet 2 - £5 Bet (Second half of your initial deposit)

It's easy to see why Advertise heads the Newmarket betting, after his return to top form in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. The beaten favourite that day was TEN SOVEREIGNS, who failed to live up to the hype with a rather limp display. The betting suggests the bookies have lost faith in Aidan O'Brien's colt, which is rather unfair on the back of just one understandably poor outing and he looks the most dangerously overpriced contender in this year's July Cup.

Following a decent run in the 2000 Guineas - where Ryan Moore's mount was forced to make his own pace down the slower portion of the track before fading to finish fifth in the final furlong -Aidan O'Brien dropped Ten Sovereigns back to six furlongs at Ascot. Moore's mount never really seemed to be travelling well as he stepped foot on ground softer than good for the first time, failing to pick up the leading trio before crossing the line three lengths behind Advertise in fourth.

Very few horses managed to pick up from off the pace during the opening few days of this year's Royal Ascot, so I don't think Ten Sovereign's performance was as poor as many viewers first thought. Aidan O'Brien's charge will have good memories of Newmarket, having won the Middle Park Stakes here last season and the prospect of fast ground will be much more suitable. O'Brien landed this race with US Navy Flag - who was also dropping back in distance after starting his campaign over a mile - 12 months ago and I fancy Ten Sovereigns could follow in his footsteps.

We're hoping Ten Sovereigns (centre) bounces back to the form her showed when winning the Middle Park Stakes last year.

Once both bets have been placed using your initial deposit with Mr Green, you should have received your £10 accumulator bet. Here’s a tasty treble at Newmarket on which to use your newly acquired free bet!

Bet 3 – Free £10 Accumulator Bet

2:20pm Newmarket bet365 Mile Handicap (Class 2) 1m

It’s very hard to oppose HONEST ALBERT, as John Gosden’s unbeaten colt makes his handicap debut off what looks a workable mark of 90. When a horse of Gosden’s wins first time out, you better sit up and take notice. This son of Sepoy scored comfortably on the all-weather at Kempton at the backend of last season and Honest Albert followed up as he made his first turf start on his reappearance last month.

Frankie Dettori’s mount comfortably saw off rival Bayroot when they clashed at Nottingham last time out and the latter will be giving Honest Albert seven pounds on Saturday, so it’s hard to see how he will reverse the form. Akwaan handles fast ground better than most expected last time out, but he will still need to produce a career-best effort if he wants to deny the market leader.

2:55pm Newmarket bet365 Superlative Stakes (Group 2) 7f

Quorto left a lasting impression when winning this race 12 months ago and Charlie Appleby will be confident that KING’S COMMAND will follow in his stablemate’s footsteps. The Dubawi colt made his debut right here on the July course last month and made the perfect start to his career, seeing off two fellow Godolphin flag-bearers from the front to secure a narrow victory.

Fourth placed Royal Commando, who finished just half-a-length behind King’s Command, boosted the form of that maiden by winning on his very next start. Appleby has handed the favourite a couple of Group One entries in the Keeneland Phoenix and the National Stakes, so he must be expecting King’s Command to continue his unbeaten record on Saturday.

4:00pm Fred Cowley Mbe Memorial Summer Mile Stakes (Group 2) 1m

Accidental Agent has the ability to throw a spanner in the works – should there be no repeat of his Royal Ascot refusal – and Beat The Bank’s record at this level makes him hugely respected under a penalty. Yet, the stage looks set for ZAAKI to continue the excellent form he has shown so far this term.

Despite impressive over a mile-and-a-quarter last year, Sir Michael Stoute decided a mile would be Zaaki’s trip in 2019. That decision has proven to be a masterstroke, as Stoute’s four-year-old has secured back-to-back wins in the Paradise Stakes and the Group Three Diomed Stakes. In truth, Zaaki beat very little at Epsom, but the favourite was very good value for the margin he won by and there certainly seems to be more improvement left in his locker.
