Horse racing fixtures 11-17 February - Details of this week's scheduled UK and Irish horse racing meetings

Brian Healy 11 Feb 2019
Ascot are scheduled to race on Saturday with the Grade One Ascot Chase the feature race of the day.

Brian Healy looks ahead to this week's scheduled UK and Irish horse racing meetings and details all the week's big races.

With the equine influenza outbreak continuing to wreak havoc with the scheduled UK horse racing calendar, it remains to be seen whether horse racing will be back on the agenda from Wednesday as hoped.

While there continues to be no racing action in the UK, there is still action going to post througout the week in Ireland, and we look ahead to the week’s scheduled fixtures in the hope that racing returns to normality in the days ahead.

There are plenty of feature races to look forward to this week, assuming racing gets the green light to recommence; the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso on Thursday joins the likes of Sandown's Royal Artillery Gold Cup on Friday, and the Grade One Ascot Chase on Saturday at Ascot, the Grand National Trial and Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock and the Kingwell Hurdle from Wincanton, as well as the Grade Two Ten Up Chase on Sunday at Gowran Park as the week's highlights so racing fans will be hopeful of a recommencement of the racing calendar.

Fingers are crossed for a resumption of the scheduled UK horse racing fixtures on Wednesday, and if given the green light then five fixtures will go to post with afternoon jumps racing from Plumpton and Musselburgh, as well as from Fairyhouse in Ireland.

Meanwhile, on the all-weather there is an afternoon fixture at Southwell on fibresand, as well as an evening fixture on the polytrack at Kempton.

There is a fixture scheduled to go to post at Plumpton on Wednesday should racing get the green light to recommence.

Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.20 - 8.30pm (7 races)

FRIDAY 15 FEBRUARY

Five UK and Irish horse racing meetings are scheduled to go to post on Friday, and the day’s jumps racing calendar would see fixtures over the sticks from the meetings at Sandown and Fakenham.
