This week's horse racing meetings 19-25 August - York's Ebor Festival meeting features on this week's fixture list

It is the York Ebor Festival meeting this week with four top-class days of horse racing action on the Knavesmire.

Brian Healy looks ahead to this week's UK and Irish horse racing fixtures which included the four-day York Ebor Festival meeting.


A cracking few days of top-class horse racing action awaits punters as the York Ebor Festival takes place this week, with a quality four-day racecard getting underway on Thursday.

The fantastic feature meeting includes three Group One contests with the likes of the Juddmonte International, Yorkshire Oaks and Nunthorpe Stakes all taking place across the piece, alongside the famous Ebor Handicap which spearhead’s Saturday’s action.

Elsewhere during the week, there is Group Two action at the Curragh with both the Debutante Stakes and the Futurity Stakes on the agenda at the Irish venue; while Goodwood host Group Two and Three racing action on Saturday and Sunday at the Sussex track with highlights including the Celebration Mile and the Supreme Stakes.

MONDAY 19 AUGUST


Monday sees five UK and Irish horse racing meetings going to post, and the afternoon action comes on the flat from Catterick on turf, and also Lingfield on the all-weather.

Meanwhile, the evening racing action takes in a jumps card from Bangor, while both Windsor and Roscommon in Ireland are racing on the level.

Tuesday takes in six UK and Irish horse racing meetings, with afternoon action on the flat from Brighton and Hamilton on turf, and also from Kempton on the all-weather.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is a further meeting on the level at Yarmouth; while over the sticks there is action from Newton Abbot, and also from Sligo in Ireland.

A further six UK and Irish horse racing fixtures go to post on Wednesday, with the start of the York Ebor Festival meeting taking centre-stage with the Group One Juddmonte International dominating a top-class racecard.

There is also afternoon action on the flat from Bath and Carlisle; while in the evening there is all-weather racing from Kempton.

Wednesday’s jumps racing meanwhile comes from the cards at Worcester, and also Killarney in Ireland which hosts a mixed flat and jumps racing fixture.

The second day of the York Ebor Festival meeting featuring the Group One Yorkshire Oaks is the highlight of Thursday’s six-fixture schedule of horse racing, and there also afternoon flat racing from Chepstow as well as a jumps racing card from Stratford going to post.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is further action on the flat from Leicester, while Fontwell go over the sticks; and Killarney hosts a mixed flat and jumps racing card to round off the day.

Eight UK and Irish horse racing meetings will go to post on Friday, including the third day of the York Ebor Festival meeting where the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes is the feature race of the afternoon on another cracking card on the Knavesmire.

There is also afternoon flat racing from Ffos Las and Newmarket where there is action on the July Course.

Meanwhile, Friday’s evening racing comes on the flat from Salisbury and Goodwood, and also on the all-weather from Chelmsford; while there is a cracking card in Ireland at the Curragh which features the Group Two pairing of the Debutante Stakes and the Futurity Stakes.

There is also a jumps racing fixture going to post in Ireland on Friday evening at Killarney.

Another bumper nine fixture crop of UK and Irish horse racing action goes to post on Saturday, with the feature Ebor Handicap dominating the day’s meeting on a card that also includes the Group Two City Of York Stakes on the Knavesmire.

Elswehere, there is further flat racing action from Goodwood and Newmarket, with the former including such highlights as the Group Two Celebration Mile; while there is Listed action on the latter racecard.

There is also all-weather action from Chelmsford, while Killarney in Ireland are also racing on the flat on turf; and there is also a jumps fixture from Cartmel on Saturday afternoon.

Completing the fixture list for Saturday are evening flat racing fixtures at both Windsor and Redcar.
