York's Ebor Festival meeting takes centre stage on this week's fixture list.

Brian Healy details all the week's UK and Irish horse racing meetings, featuring the York Ebor Festival.

Another high-class week of horse racing action awaits punters as the York Ebor Festival gets underway from Wednesday for four cracking days’ racing.

With the likes of top-class contests such as the Nunthorpe Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks, Gimcrack Stakes, Juddmonte International Stakes, Great Voltigeur Stakes and of course the eponymously-titled Ebor Handicap Stakes, the action on the Knavesmire promises to be unmissable for any horse racing fan.

Other highlights of the week include the Group Two Celebration Mile at Goodwood, while the likes of the Debutante Stakes and Futurity Stakes go to post at the Curragh in Ireland.

MONDAY 20 AUGUST


The week kicks off with a five-fixture programme of horse racing action which takes in flat racing from the meetings at Thirsk and Leicester in the afternoon; while in the evening there is further action on the level from Windsor, and also Roscommon in Ireland.

Bangor meanwhile hosts Monday’s sole jumps racing fixture in the evening to round off the day’s action.

Tuesday’s fixture list of horse racing meetings sees six UK and Irish racecards going to post, and the afternoon racing programme sees action on the flat from the cards at Brighton and Hamilton on turf, and Kempton on the all-weather.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is further flat racing from Yarmouth, while Newton Abbot and Sligo in Ireland both go to post over the sticks.

Six meetings again go to post on Wednesday, headlined by the opening day of the 2018 York Ebor Festival, where the Group One Juddmonte International Stakes takes centre stage on a top-class racecard.

There is also further action on the flat from the cards at Carlisle and Brighton; while Killarney in Ireland also race on the level.

In the evening there is an all-weather flat racing card from Kempton, whilst over the sticks there is action from Worcester.

A further six fixtures will go to post on Thursday, headed by the second day of the York Ebor Festival where the Group One Yorkshire Oaks takes the spotlight on another cracking afternoon on the Knavesmire.

Elsewhere, there is further flat racing action at Chepstow, while Stratford goes over the sticks on Thursday afternoon.

In the evening, Wolverhampton’s all-weather fixture on the flat is joined by jumps racing at Fontwell; while Killarney in Ireland hosts a mixed flat and jumps card.

A busy Friday of horse racing action sees eight UK and Irish horse racing meetings going to post, with the third day of the York Ebor Festival taking centre stage with the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes taking the spotlight on a card which also features the Gimcrack Stakes.

Elsewhere, there is further flat racing action at both Ffos Las and Newmarket’s July Course; while in the evening the flat racing action continues at Goodwood and Salisbury, as well as Chelmsford’s fixture on the all-weather.

Completing Friday’s action are evening meetings in Ireland at Kilbeggan over the sticks, and also Killarney which hosts a mixed flat and jumps card.

A bumper crop of nine UK and Irish horse racing fixtures go to post on Saturday, with the final day of the 2018 York Ebor Festival taking centre stage again with the feature handicap spearheading the last day of action on the Knavesmire.

Elsewhere, there is flat racing action from the cards at Goodwood, Newmarket’s July Course and Chelmsford’s all-weather track; whilst the Curragh in Ireland also goes to post on the level.

There is also jumps racing in the afternoon from Cartmel, while Killarney in Ireland also goes over the sticks.

Completing Saturday’s line-up of horse racing meetings are fixtures on the level from Windsor and Redcar.
