Horse racing fixtures 3-9 December - Details of all this week's UK and Irish horse racing fixtures

Aintree are racing on Saturday with the Becher Chase featuring on the card.

Brian Healy looks ahead to this week's UK and Irish horse racing meetings and details every fixture going to post over the next seven days.

More high class horse racing action goes to post over the course of the next seven days, and the Christmas extravaganza that is the King George VI Chase at Kempton will soon be upon us alongside the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.

More immediately however, we pay our first visit of the current jumps season to the Grand National fences this weekend, where Aintree’s meeting features the Becher Chase over the fearsome and unique Grand National obstacles.

Meanwhile, it is Tingle Creek Chase day at Sandown on Saturday, where Altior could make his reappearance; the Grade One Henry VIII Novices' Chase offers strong support to the main event. 

Meanwhile the Borders National goes to post at Kelso on Sunday, and the day also features Huntingdon's Peterborough Chase which joins the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown and the Hilly Way Chase at Cork as highlights.

MONDAY 3 DECEMBER


Three meetings get the new week underway with jumps racing action from the cards at Musselburgh and Plumpton, while on the all-weather in the evening there is a card going to post on the Wolverhampton tapta.

Musselburgh (jumps) - 12.15 - 3.15pm (7 races)
Plumpton (jumps) - 12.30 - 3.30pm (7 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 3.45 - 7.15pm (8 races)

Plumpton are racing on Monday.


TUESDAY 4 DECEMBER


Tuesday sees a further three meetings going to post across the UK with the day’s jumps racing action coming from the cards at Southwell and Fakenham, while on the all-weather there is a fixture at Lingfield.

Lingfield (flat, aw) - 12.20 - 3.20pm (7 races)
Southwell (jumps) - 12.30 - 3.30pm (7 races)
Fakenham (jumps) - 12.40 - 3.10pm (6 races)

WEDNESDAY 5 DECEMBER


The action cranks up a notch for Wednesday’s fixture list, and there is afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Ludlow and Haydock, whilst on the all-weather there is a card on the Lingfield polytrack.

Meanwhile, in the evening there are further fixtures under the floodlights at Kempton on polytrack where there is Listed action on the card, and also Newcastle on tapeta.

THURSDAY 6 DECEMBER


Five meetings head to post across the UK and Ireland on Thursday with afternoon jumps racing action from Leicester, Market Rasen and Wincanton as well as Clonmel in Ireland all going over the sticks.

Meanwhile, Chelmsford are racing on their all-weather surface under the floodlights on Thursday evening.

Market Rasen (jumps) - 12.15 - 3.30pm (7 races)
Wincanton (jumps) - 12.25 - 3.40pm (7 races)

FRIDAY 7 DECEMBER


A further five UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Friday with afternoon jumps racing from Sedgefield, Exeter and Sandown where there is Grade Two action on the card with the Ballymore Winter Novices’ Hurdle heading the action at the Esher track,

Meanwhile, in the evening there are further meetings on the all-weather at Kempton, and also Dundalk in Ireland.

Exeter (jumps) - 12.25 - 3.40pm (7 races)
Sandown (jumps) - 12.50 - 3.30pm (6 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 5.45 - 8.45pm (7 races)
Dundalk (flat, aw) - 6.00 - 9.00pm (7 races)

Sandown are racing over two days this week with the Tingle Creek Chase taking centre-stage.


SATURDAY 8 DECEMBER


Plenty of classy action features on Saturday’s fixture list where six UK and Irish horse racing meetings will go to post throughout the day.

Sandown’s Saturday racecard features the Grade One Tingle Creek Chase where reigning Champion Chase champion Altior could make his seasonal reappearance, and there is further Grade One action on the card at the Esher venue with the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase.

Elsewhere, at Aintree the competitive Becher Chase over the Grand National fences joins the Grade Two Many Clouds Chase on a quality racecard on Merseyside.

There is also jumping from Wetherby as well as Chepstow, while Navan in Ireland are also going over the sticks on Saturday where the Foxrock Handicap Chase joins the Grade Three Klairon Davis Chase on their card.

Completing Saturday’s line-up of fixtures is an evening all-weather racecard at Wolverhampton.

SUNDAY 9 DECEMBER


Four meetings close out the week with jumps racing from Kelso, where it is Borders National Day; and also from Huntingdon, where the Grade Two Peterborough Chase takes centre stage on their racecard.

Meanwhile, in Ireland there is further Grade One action in Ireland with the John Durkan Memorial Chase going to post at Punchestown, whilst at Cork the Grade Two Hilly Way Chase dominates a cracking card which also features Grade Three action.

Huntingdon are racing on Sunday on a cracking afternoon of racing across the UK and Ireland.
