Where is horse racing taking place this week? Details of every UK and Irish horse racing meeting for the next seven days

The Curragh hosts Irish Classic Weekend featuring both the Irish 1000 and Irish 2000 Guineas.

Brian Healy looks ahead to another action packed week of horse racing action across the UK and Ireland, including Irish Classic Weekend.

York’s Dante Festival meeting is now in the rear-view mirror, but the top-class horse racing action continues thick and fast this week where the weekend plays host to the Irish Classic weekend with the Irish 1000 Guineas and Irish 2000 Guineas both on the agenda.

Meanwhile, in midweek there is classy action from Sandown with the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes and the Group Three Henry II Stakes both on the card at the Esher venue on Thursday evening.

Other feature races of the week include the Group Two Temple Stakes and Group Two Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock; and also the Group Three Bronte Cup Stakes from York amongst other highlights throughout Saturday afternoon’s cards.

MONDAY 20 MAY


A new week of horse racing action kicks off with a five fixture schedule of race-meetings which takes in afternoon action on the flat from the cards at Redcar and Carlisle, while Ludlow are racing over the sticks.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is the usual Monday fixture at Windsor, where there is Listed action on the card; while Leicester are also racing on the level.

A six-fixture programme of horse racing action greets punters on Tuesday, with the afternoon’s flat racing action coming from Brighton and Nottingham on turf, and Wolverhampton on the all-weather.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is jumps racing action from Hexham and Huntingdon, while there is flat racing action on the card from Sligo in Ireland.

Wednesday’s fixture list of horse racing action takes in seven meetings across the UK and Ireland, and the day’s action on the flat comes from the cards at Ayr and Yarmouth; while over the sticks there are meetings from Warwick and Wexford in Ireland.

The evening racing programme takes in further jumps racing action from Southwell, while on the flat they race on the Kempton all-weather, as well as on turf in Ireland at Cork.

Six UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Thursday, and the afternoon’s action comes on the flat from the meetings at Chepstow, Lingfield and Goodwood where there is Listed action on the card at the Sussex venue.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is classy action on the card at Sandown with the Group Three Brigadier Gerard Stakes and the Group Three Henry II Stakes both on the card at the Esher venue.

Completing Thursday’s line-up of racing action is an all-weather meeting on the Chelmsford polytrack; while Tipperary in Ireland race over the sticks.

Seven UK and Irish horse racing meetings make up Friday’s fixture list, and the day’s flat racing action comes from the cards at Bath, Haydock and Goodwood where there is Listed action on the card.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is further flat racing action from Pontefract, and from the Curragh where Irish Classic weekend gets underway with Listed and Group Three action on the card. 

Completing the Friday fixture list are jumps racing fixtures from Worcester, and also Downpatrick in Ireland.

A busy afternoon of horse racing action across the UK and Ireland sees a bumper crop of eight UK and Irish horse racing meetings going to post, and the day’s action on the level sees classy action from Chester, Goodwood, York and Haydock, as well as from the Curragh in Ireland where the Irish 2000 Guineas takes centre stage.

There is also jumps racing action in the afternoon from Cartmel, while Ffos Las race over the sticks on Saturday evening alongside a meeting on the level at Salisbury.

Feature races of the day include the Irish 2000 Guineas, as well as the Group Two Temple Stakes and Group Two Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock; and also the Group Three Bronte Cup Stakes from York amongst other highlights throughout the afternoon across the day’s cards.
