The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes meeting at Ascot dominates this week's fixture list.

Brian Healy looks ahead to this week's fixture list of horse racing meetings where the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes meeting at Ascot takes centre stage.


More classy horse racing action will go to post this week as another seven days’ quality action heads to post, headlined by the Group One King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

There is also competitive action on York's Saturday racecard with the latest renewal of the Skybet Dash on a racecard which also includes the Group Two York Stakes.

MONDAY 23 JULY


Another week of horse racing action gets underway on Monday with five scheduled UK and Irish horse racing meetings heading to post throughout the day.

The afternoon action on the flat on Monday comes from the meeting at Ayr; whilst there is also jumps racing from the card at Cartmel.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is further flat racing action at Windsor and Beverley, and also Ballinrobe in Ireland.

Ayr (flat) - 1.30 - 5.10pm (8 races)
Cartmel (jumps) - 2.15 - 5.25pm (7 races)
Windsor (flat) - 5.40 - 8.40pm (7 races)
Ballinrobe (flat) - 5.50 - 8.50pm (7 races)
Beverley (flat) - 6.00 - 9.00pm (7 races)

TUESDAY 24 JULY


Six UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post throughout the day on Tuesday, with afternoon flat racing action on turf from the cards at Ffos Las and Musselburgh, while Newcastle race on their all-weather surface.

Elsewhere, in the evening there is further flat racing action on turf at Nottingham, and on the all-weather at Chelmsford. 

Tuesday’s jumps action comes courtesy of a meeting at Ballinrobe in Ireland meanwhile.

WEDNESDAY 25 JULY


Six more meetings head to post on Wednesday, and there is afternoon horse racing action on the flat at Bath, Catterick and Lingfield who race on the turf track.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon there are further flat racing meetings going to post at Leicester and Sandown, as well as Naas in Ireland.

Lingfield (flat) - 1.50 - 4.50pm (7 races)

Bath are racing on Wednesday.


THURSDAY 26 JULY


A busy Thursday takes in seven UK and Irish horse racing meetings, and there is afternoon action on the flat from the meetings at Sandown and, Yarmouth; while Worcester races over the sticks.

In the evening there is further action on the flat with meetings at Doncaster and Newbury, while Leopardstown in Ireland are also racing on the level.

Completing Thursday’s fixture list is a jumps meeting in Ireland from Limerick.

Eight meetings will go to post on Friday, with day one of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes meeting taking centre stage at Ascot.

Elsewhere on Friday afternoon, there is additional flat racing from Thirsk, while Uttoxeter go over the sticks.

In the evening, there is further action on the flat on the July Course at Newmarket, while York and Chepstow also race on the level. And in Ireland there is further flat racing going to post at Down Royal, while Wexford race over jumps.

Eight more horse racing meetings will go to post across the UK and Ireland on Saturday, headed by the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes fixture at Ascot.

There is also further action on the flat in the afternoon from Chester, York and Newmarket’s July Course, as well as from Newcastle’s all-weather surface. Gowran Park in Ireland are also racing on the flat on Saturday afternoon. 

York’s Saturday fixture features the latest renewal of the Skybet Dash, as well as the Group Two York Stakes on a quality card; whilst in addition to Group One action at Ascot there is the competitive International Stakes Handicap.

In the evening there is further racing on the flat with meetings from both Salisbury and Lingfield taking place.

Racing in Ireland takes a breather before the Galway Festival gets underway from Monday of next week, leaving just two meetings to go to post with flat racing action from Pontefract; whilst there is jumping action from Uttoxeter.
