Horse racing fixtures 24-30 September - Newmarket's Cambridgeshire Festival spearheads this week's fixtures

The Rowley Mile dominates this week's fixture list with the Cambridgeshire Festival.

Brian Healy takes a look at this week's UK and Irish horse racing cards, where the Cambridgeshire Festival meeting takes centre stage on another cracking week.

Another cracking week of horse racing action awaits punters over the course of the next seven days, and the feature fixture of this week comes from Newmarket where it the Cambridgeshire Festival goes to post with some top-class action to look forward to.

The competitive Cambridgeshire Handicap dominates Saturday's card which also features Group One action, while classy Group Two action goes to post earlier in the week on the same card. There is also classy Group racing action in Ireland on Sunday, while competitive jumps racing action goes to post on Saturday at Market Rasen on another excellent week of action.

MONDAY 24 SEPTEMBER


The week kicks off with a five-fixture line-up of fixtures, taking in afternoon flat racing action from Hamilton and Leicester, while Kempton are racing on the all-weather in the afternoon.

There is further action on the flat in Ireland where there is a late kick-off at Fairyhouse, while the day rounds off with an all-weather fixture on the Newcastle tapeta under the floodlights.

Kempton (flat, aw) - 2.10 - 5.40pm (7 races)
Leicester (flat) - 2.20 - 5.50pm (7 races)
Fairyhouse (flat) - 3.15 - 6.45pm (7 races)

Kempton are racing on Monday evening.


TUESDAY 25 SEPTEMBER


A four-fixture schedule of horse racing meetings which takes in action on the Flat from the cards at Beverley and Lingfield, and over the sticks at Warwick; while in the evening there is a fixture under the floodlights at Chelmsford on the all-weather.

Lingfield (flat, aw) - 1.30 - 5.20pm (8 races)
Beverley (flat) - 2.10 - 6.00pm (8 races)
Warwick (jumps) - 2.20 - 5.10pm (6 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.45 - 8.45pm (7 races)

WEDNESDAY 26 SEPTEMBER


Four more fixtures will go to post on Wednesday, with Goodwood joining Redcar on the day’s flat racing roster; while Perth are racing over the sticks.

There is also evening action on the all-weather where Wolverhampton are racing on their tapeta surface under the floodlights.

THURSDAY 27 SEPTEMBER


Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire Festival meeting kicks off on Thursday, where the Group Three Somerville Tattersall Stakes heads up the afternoon’s proceedings on the Rowley Mile.

Elsewhere, Pontefract are also racing on the level in the afternoon; while over the sticks there is further action at Perth, and also Sligo in Ireland.

Completing Thursday’s five-fixture line-up of horse racing meetings is a card under the lights on the Kempton polytrack.

Sligo (jumps) - 1.55 - 5.25pm (7 races)
Pontefract (flat) - 2.05 - 5.35pm (7 races)

FRIDAY 28 SEPTEMBER


Six meetings go to post on Friday’s fixture list, and day two of the Cambridgeshire Festival dominates again with classy Group Two action featuring the Rockfel Stake3s and the Joel Stakes.

There is further action on the flat from Haydock, while over the sticks there is racing at Worcester and also Downpatrick in Ireland.

Rounding off Friday’s action are two evening meetings under the floodlights on the all-weather, where both Newcastle and Dundalk in Ireland go to post.

SATURDAY 29 SEPTEMBER


Seven UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Saturday, with the culmination of three fantastic days’ racing at Newmarket as the ultra-competitive Cambridgeshire Handicap goes to post on a card which also features Group One action in the shape of the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Middle Park Stakes on a cracking afternoon on the Rowley Mile.

There is further flat racing action from Haydock and Chester, as well as Ripon where the City Of The Dales Handicap takes centre-stage on the day’s card at the Yorkshire venue.

Navan in Ireland are also racing on the flat in Ireland, whilst over the sticks there is a fixure at Market Rasen featuring the Listed Prelude Hurdle.

Cambridgeshire week ends with a three-fixture day of horse racing action on Sunday, where there is flat racing action from the cards at Epsom, Musselburgh and Naas where there is some classy Group racing action on the card in Ireland which includes the Group Two Beresford Stakes.
