Doncaster are racing on Saturday and Sunday this week as the 2019 UK Flat racing season on turf kicks off.

Brian Healy day-by-day look ahead to this week's UK and Irish horse racing meetings, which includes the start of the 2019 UK Flat racing season on turf.

Grand National week is fast approaching, but before the thrills of the next big jumps racing festival at Aintree, the start of the 2019 Flat season loom large this week with the opening day of the new campaign coming from Doncaster on Saturday where the latest renewal of the Lincolnshire Handicap takes centre-stage on the card on Town Moor.

MONDAY 25 MARCH


The new week of UK and Irish horse racing meetings gets underway with a three-fixture racecard which takes in afternoon action over the sticks at Wincanton, while on the all-weather there is a fixture on the Lingfield polytrack.

Completing Monday’s trio of horse racing fixtures is an evening meeting at Wolverhampton on tapeta, with the action unfolding under the floodlights.

Wincanton (jumps) - 2.15 - 4.45pm (6 races)
Lingfield (flat, aw) - 2.30 - 5.00pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.15 - 7.45pm (6 races)

Wincanton are amongst the fixtures going to post on Monday.


TUESDAY 26 MARCH 


Four UK and Irish horse racing meetings will go to post on Tuesday, with afternoon jumps racing action taking place at Hereford, Hexham and also Clonmel in Ireland.

Meanwhile, there is a second day of all-weather action from Wolverhampton under the floodlights.

Hereford (jumps) - 2.00 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Hexham (jumps) - 2.10 - 4.40pm (6 races)
Clonmel (jumps) - 2.20 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.00 - 7.30pm (6 races)

WEDNESDAY 27 MARCH


Four more UK horse racing fixtures take place on Wednesday, and the day’s jumps racing comes from Market Rasen; while there is flat racing on the all-weather from the fixtures at Lingfield and Southwell.

Completing Wednesday’s fixture list is a meeting under the floodlights at Kempton.

Lingfield (flat, aw) - 2.00 - 4.40pm (6 races)
Market Rasen jumps) - 2.10 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Southwell (flat, aw) - 2.20 - 5.05pm (6 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 5.30 - 8.00pm (6 races)

THURSDAY 28 MARCH


A further four UK horse racing meetings will take place on Thursday’s racing programme, and there is afternoon jumping action from the meetings at Newcastle and Warwick, as well as an all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton on tapeta.

In the evening meanwhile is a fixture at Chelmsford on polytrack.

Newcastle (jumps) - 2.00 - 4.40pm (6 races)
Warwick (jumps) - 2.10 - 4.50pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 2.20 - 5.05pm (6 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.30 - 8.00pm (6 races)

Wolverhampton are racing on Friday and throughout the week.


FRIDAY 29 MARCH


Irish racing returns to the fixture list on Friday, and the day takes in five UK and Irish meetings with afternoon jumps racing from both Fontwell and Wetherby; while Lingfield are racing on their polytrack surface in the afternoon.

There are two fixtures in the evening, with Newcastle racing on tapeta, while Dundalk goes to post on their polytrack surface.

Lingfield (flat, aw) - 2.00 - 4.40pm (6 races)
Fontwell (jumps) - 2.10 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Wetherby (jumps) - 2.20 - 5.35pm (7 races)
Dundalk (flat, aw) - 5.45 - 8.45pm (7 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) - 5.55 - 8.30pm (6 races)

SATURDAY 30 MARCH


The 2019 Flat season on turf in the UK gets underway on Saturday with a meeting at Doncaster, featuring the latest renewal of the Unibet Lincoln on a seven-race card at Town Moor.

There is also afternoon action on the all-weather with a meeting at Kempton, as well as jumps racing from Stratford and Uttoxeter. Meanwhile, in Ireland there is a meeting on the level on turf at Navan where there is Listed action on the racecard.

Completing Saturday’s line-up of horse racing fixtures is an evening meeting on the fibresand at Southwell.

Kempton (flat, aw) - 1.35 - 5.00pm (7 races)
Doncaster (flat, turf) - 1.50 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Stratford (jumps) - 1.55 - 5.25pm (7 races)
Uttoxeter (jumps) - 2.10 - 5.35pm (7 races)
Navan (flat) - 2.15 - 5.45pm (7 races)
Southwell (flat, aw) - 6.00 - 8.30pm (6 races)

Uttoxeter are racing on Saturday.


SUNDAY 31 MARCH


The week and month of March ends with a three-fixture schedule of horse racing action which takes in afternoon flat racing action on turf from the card at Doncaster where is it day two of the curtain-raising Lincoln meeting as the UK Flat racing season on turf continues.

There is also jumps racing from Ascot, as well as from Limerick in Ireland where there is Grade Three action on their card.

Ascot (jumps) - 2.10 - 5.40pm (7 races)
Limerick (jumps) - 2.20 - 5.50pm (7 races)
