Where is horse racing taking place this week? - Details of this week's UK and Irish racemeetings

Newbury are racing on Friday and Saturday this week.

Brian Healy looks ahead to this week's UK and Irish horse racing schedule and details every fixture going to post over the next seven days.

The Cheltenham Festival is almost upon us, and the greatest show on turf gets underway in just two weeks’ time.

However, between now and then there is still plenty for horse racing fans to look forward to, and we look ahead to this week’s UK and Irish horse racing meetings where the week’s highlights include the Grade Two Premier Kelso Hurdle, the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster and the Grade Three Greatwood Gold Cup Chase at Newbury all on Saturday.

MONDAY 25 FEBRUARY


Four UK horse racing meetings go to post throughout Monday, and there is afternoon jumps racing action from the cards at Ayr, Plumpton and Uttoxeter; while in the evening there is an all-weather card at Wolverhampton under the floodlights.

Ayr (jumps) - 1.50 - 5.00pm (7 races)
Plumpton (jumps) - 2.00 - 5.10pm (7 races)
Uttoxeter (jumps) - 2.10 - 4.50pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.25 - 7.55pm (6 races)

Uttoxeter are racing on Monday.


TUESDAY 26 FEBRUARY


Four more UK horse racing fixtures will take place on Tuesday, with the afternoon’s jumps racing action coming from the meetings at Leicester, Ffos Las and Catterick; while there is also a second day of all-weather action under the floodlights at Wolverhampton.

Leicester (jumps) - 2.00 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Ffos Las (jumps) - 2.10 - 4.40pm (6 races)
Catterick (jumps) - 2.20 - 4.50pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.00 - 7.30pm (6 races)

WEDNESDAY 27 FEBRUARY


Another four fixtures across the UK go to post on Wednesday, and there is afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Wincanton and Musselburgh, while Southwell are racing on their all-weather surface.

Kempton meanwhile hosts an evening all-weather fixture under the floodlights.

Wincanton (jumps) - 1.50 - 5.00pm (7 races)
Musselburgh (jumps) - 2.10 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Southwell (flat, aw) - 2.30 - 5.10pm (6 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 5.30 - 8.00pm (6 races)

Kempton are racing on Wednesday evening.


THURSDAY 28 FEBRUARY


The last day of February is a busy one with six UK and Irish horse racing meetings taking place which sees afternoon jumps racing from Ludlow, Taunton and Musselburgh, as well as from Clonmel in Ireland.

Meanwhile, on the all-weather there are evening racecards taking place at both Newcastle and Kempton.

Musselburgh (jumps) - 1.35 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Clonmel (jumps) - 1.45 - 5.05pm (7 races)
Ludlow (jumps) - 1.50 - 5.15pm (7 races)
Taunton (jumps) - 2.00 - 5.30pm (7 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) - 4.05 - 7.15pm (7 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 5.55 - 8.30pm (6 races)

FRIDAY 1 MARCH


Five UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post throughout Friday, and the first day of March plays host to jumps racing from Newbury and Doncaster, as well as afternoon all-weather action from Lingfield.

Meanwhile, racing in the evening are further all-weather fixtures from Newcastle, and also Dundalk in Ireland who both race under the floodlights on Friday.

Newbury (jumps) - 1.45 - 5.00pm (7 races)
Lingfield (flat, aw) - 2.00 - 4.40pm (6 races)
Doncaster (jumps) - 2.10 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Dundalk (flat, aw) - 5.15 - 8.45pm (8 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) - 5.30 - 8.00pm (6 races)

Doncaster are racing on Friday and Saturday this weekend, with features including the Grimthorpe Chase.


SATURDAY 2 MARCH


Saturday will see six UK and Irish horse racing meetings going to post with jumps racing from Newbury, Kelso and Doncaster as well as Navan in Ireland all staging racecards throughout the afternoon.

There is also all-weather action meanwhile at Lingfield in the afternoon, while Chelmsford race under the floodlights.

The Grade Three Greatwood Gold Cup Chase heads the card at the Berkshire venue on Saturday, while the Grimthorpe Chase is the feature of the afternoon on Town Moor. Meanwhile, Kelso’s Grade Two Premier Kelso Hurdle joins the Listed Premier Chase on the card north of the border.

There is also Grade Three action on the card at Navan with the Flyingbolt Chase.

Lingfield (flat, aw) - 1.35 - 5.00pm (7 races)
Kelso (jumps) - 1.40 - 5.05pm (7 races)
Navan (jumps) - 1.45 - 5.10pm (7 races)
Doncaster (jumps) - 1.50 - 5.15pm (7 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.30 - 8.00pm (6 races)

SUNDAY 3 MARCH 


The week ends with a three-fixture line-up of horse racing action which takes in afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Sedgefield and Huntingdon, where the Cambridgeshire National is the feature race of the afternoon.

Ther eis also a meeting going to post over the sticks at Leopardstown in Ireland.

Huntingdon (jumps) - 2.00 - 5.10pm (7 races)
Leopardstown (jumps) - 2.10 - 5.20pm (7 races)
Sedgefield (jumps) - 2.20 - 5.30pm (7 races)
