Horse racing fixtures - Racing calendar for 27 February- 5 March 2017 UK & Irish meetings

Newbury is amongst this week's horse racing fixtures, with the Berkshire venue racing on Friday and Saturday.

With little over two weeks to go until the Cheltenham Festival, the big race action enters a slight calm before the Festival storm; and a new week of horse racing action kicks off on Monday.

This week’s feature races come from Kelso, where the Grade Two Premier Kelso Hurdle headlines the action; while Newbury’s Greatwood Gold Cup spearhead’s the racecard at the Berkshire venue.

MONDAY 27 FEBRUARY


The week gets underway with a low-key fixture list of just three racemeetings which takes in jumps action from Plumton and Ayr, while there is also all-weather racing on tapeta at Wolverhampton.

Plumpton (jumps) – 2.00 – 4.35pm (6 races)
Ayr (jumps) – 2.10 – 5.15pm (7 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) – 2.20, 5.25pm (7 races)


Plumpton are racing on Monday.

TUESDAY 28 FEBRUARY


Tuesday’s fixture list is, like Monday, a low-key affair with jumps racing action coming from the cards at Catterick and Leicester; while Lingfield hosts a meeting on the all-weather.

Lingfield (flat, aw) – 2.00 – 4.30pm (6 races)
Leicester (jumps) – 2.10 – 4.40pm (6 races)
Catterick (jumps) – 2.20 – 4.50pm (6 races)

WEDNESDAY 1 MARCH


Wednesday sees four meetings going to post, with jumps racing taking place at Musselburgh, Ffos Las and Wincanton; while on the all-weather there is a meeting at Newcastle on tapeta.

Musselburgh (jumps) – 2.00 – 5.00pm (7 races)
Wincanton (jumps) – 2.10 – 4.40pm (6 races)
Ffos Las (jumps) – 2.20 – 4.50pm (6 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) – 5.30 – 8.00pm (6 races)

THURSDAY 2 MARCH


Thursday’s fixture list of horse racing cards sees Irish racing return to the fold with a jumps fixture from Clonmel; while there are further jumps racing meetings from Ludlow and Taunton.

On the all-weather there are cards at Newcastle on tapeta in the afternoon, and also Chelmsford in the evening on polytrack.

Taunton (jumps) – 2.00 – 5.15pm (7 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) – 2.10 – 5.25pm (7 races)
Clonmel (jumps) – 2.15 – 5.30pm (7 races)
Ludlow (jumps) – 2.20 – 5.35pm (7 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) – 5.55 – 8.55pm (7 races)

FRIDAY 3 MARCH


Five meetings go to post on Friday, with Doncaster and Newbury racing over the sticks in the afternoon; while Lingfield host an all-weather card on their polytrack surface.

In the evening, there are further fixtres on the all-weather with cards at Newcastle on tapeta, and also Dundalk in Ireland on polytrack.

Doncaster (jumps) – 1.50 – 5.05pm (7 races)
Lingfield (flat, aw) – 2.00 – 4.45pm (6 races)
Newbury (jumps) – 2.10 – 5.25pm (7 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) – 5.15 – 7.45pm (6 races)
Dundalk (flat, aw) – 6.00 – 9.00pm (7 races)

SATURDAY 4 MARCH


Six meetings are scheduled to take place on Saturday, with the feature meeting of the day coming from Newbury where the Greatwood Gold Cup headlines the action at the Berkshire track.

Elsewhere, there is further jumps racing from Doncaster and Kelso, where the Premier Kelso hurdle takes place on a cracking card at the Scottish borders venue; and also from Navan in Ireland.

Meanwhile, on the all-weather there are fixtures at Lingfield in the afternoon on polytrack, and on the tapeta at Newcastle.

Doncaster (jumps) – 1.50 – 5.20pm (7 races)

SUNDAY 5 MARCH


Three meetings round off the week, with jumps racing action taking place from the cards at Huntingdon and Sedgefield; while in Ireland there is a meeting at Leopardstown.

Huntingdon (jumps) – 2.00 – 5.30pm (8 races)
Leopardstown (jumps) – 2.10 – 5.10pm ( 7 races)
Sedgefield (jumps) – 2.20 – 5.20pm ( 7 races)
