Horse racing fixtures 4-10 February - Warwick and Newbury amongst this week's highlights

Newbury are racing on Saturday, featuring the Betfair Hurdle and the Denman Chase on the card at the Berkshire venue.

Brian Healy looks ahead to all this week's UK and Irish horse racing meetings which features Newbury and Warwick amongst the highlights over the next seven days.

More classy horse racing action goes to post over the course of the next seven days, and it is only a few short weeks until the Cheltenham Festival gets underway. 

This week’s highlights in the racing calendar include the Grade Two Kingmaker Hurdle at Warwick on Saturday, while on the sam day Newbury plays host to the latest renewal of the Betfair Hurdle as well as the Grade Two Denman Chase, won last year by Native River.

On Sunday at Punchestown, the Boylesport Grand National Trial also goes to post.

MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY


A new week of horse racing action gets underway with a three-fixture line-up of meetings across the UK, and following the loss of Carlisle’s jumps meeting it could be left to Taunton to fly the flag for the day’s National Hunt action.

Elsewhere, all-weather action is on the card at Chelmsford in the afternoon, and Wolverhampton in the evening. 

Taunton (jumps) - 1.45 - 4.45pm (7 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 2.00 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 4.55 - 8.25pm (8 races)

Taunton are racing on Monday.


TUESDAY 5 FEBRUARY


Three meetings again go to post on Tuesday, and the day’s jumps racing action comes from the cards at Sedgefield and Market Rasen; while on the all-weather there is a fixture on the Newcastle tapeta.

Sedgefield (jumps) - 1.35 - 4.15pm (6 races)
Market Rasen (jumps) - 1.50 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) - 4.10 - 7.15pm (8 races)

WEDNESDAY 6 FEBRUARY


Wednesday takes in four UK horse racing meetings with jumps racing action in the afternoon from the fixtures at Ayr and Ludlow, while Kempton are also racing on their all-weather track on Wednesday.

There is further all-weather action meanwhile in the evening at Wolverhampton on their tapeta surface.

Ayr (jumps) - 1.30 - 4.40pm (7 races)
Ludlow (jumps) - 1.40 - 4.50pm (7 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 1.50 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.10 - 8.15pm (7 races)

Ayr are racing on Wednesday as four UK horse racing meetings go to post.


THURSDAY 7 FEBRUARY


Five UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Thursday with afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Huntingdon, Doncaster and Ffos Las; while in Ireland there is further jumps racing from Thurles.

Completing Thursday’s line-up of horse racing meetings in an evening all-weather fixture from Chelmsford on their polytrack surface.

Huntingdon (jumps) - 1.00 - 4.20pm (7 races)
Thurles (jumps) - 1.15 - 4.35pm (7 races)
Doncaster (jumps) - 1.40 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Ffos Las (jumps) - 1.50 - 4.45pm (6 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.10 - 8.25pm (7 races)

FRIDAY 8 FEBRUARY


A further five UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Friday with afternoon jumps racing action taking place on the cards from Bangor and Kempton, while there is also all-weather racing from Southwell in the afternoon on their fibresand.

Bangor (jumps) - 1.40 - 4.55pm (7 races)
Kempton (jumps) - 1.50 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Southwell (flat, aw) - 2.00 - 4.45pm (6 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) - 4.40 - 7.45pm (7 races)

Bangor are racing on Friday.


SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY


Six UK and Irish horse racing meetings head to post throughout Saturday, and Warwick along with Newbury, Uttoxeter and Naas in Ireland host the day’s jumps racing action.

The Grade Two Kingmaker Hurdle is the feature race of the afternoon at Warwick, while Newbury plays host to the latest renewal of the Betfair Hurdle as well as the Grade Two Denman Chase, won last year by Native River.

Meanwhile, on the all-weather there is racing on the Lingfield polytrack surface; while in the evening Wolverhampton hosts a fixture on their tapeta.

Naas (jumps) - 1.00 - 4.30pm (7 races)
Newbury (jumps) - 1.15 - 4.45pm (7 races)

Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.10 - 8.15pm (7 races)

SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY


The week ends with a three-fixture schedule of horse racing action which takes in afternoon jumps racing from Exeter, and also Punchestown in Ireland where the feature of the afternoon is the Boylesports Grand National Trial.

There is also all-weather action on Sunday with a fixture on the Southwell fibresand.

Exeter (jumps) - 1.50 - 5.00pm (7 races)
Southwell (flat, aw) - 2.00 - 4.40pm (6 races)
