This week's horse racing fixtures 4-10 March - Details of every UK and Irish fixture over the next seven days

Sandown are racing on Friday and Saturday this week with the Royal Artillery Gold Cup on Friday, and the Imperial Cup on Saturday.

Brian Healy looks ahead to the final week of horse racing action before the Cheltenham Festival, and he details every UK and Irish horse racing meeting over the next seven days.

The last full week of horse racing action before the Cheltenham Festival, and while excitement towards the ‘greatest show on turf’ is reaching fever pitch, there is still plenty to look forward to over the course of the next seven days.

This week’s highlights include the Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday which carries a tidy bonus for the winner should they go on to win at the Cheltenham Festival next week; while the Royal Artillery Gold Cup heads the action at the same venue twenty fours earlier. Meanwhile, the Leinster National goes to post on Naas' Sunday racecard in Ireland.

The Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes also features on the all-weather on Saturday, with the All-weather Championships qualifier the highlight of the day's card at Wolverhampton.

MONDAY 4 MARCH


Four UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Monday, and there is afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Fakenham and Southwell, as well as from Leopardstown in Ireland.

Meanwhile, there is also an evening all-weather card at Wolverhampton under the floodlights.

Leopardstown (jumps) - 1.30 - 4.40pm (7 races)
Fakenham (jumps) - 2.10 - 4.50pm (6 races)
Southwell (jumps) - 2.20 - 5.30pm (7 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.45 - 8.15pm (6 races)

Fakenham are racing on Monday.


TUESDAY 5 MARCH


Tuesday’s fixture list is a relatively low-key one with just three UK fixtures taking place, with jumps action from Newcastle and Exeter; while on the all-weather there is a meeting under the floodlights at Wolverhampton in the evening.

Newcastle (jumps) - 2.00 - 4.30pm (6 races)
Exeter (jumps) - 2.15 - 4.45pm (6 races)
Wolverhampton (flat, aw) - 5.00 - 7.30pm (6 races)

WEDNESDAY 6 MARCH


A further four UK meetings head to post on Wednesday, and the day’s jumps racing comes from the cards at Fontwell and Catterick, while there is also afternoon all-weather action from Lingfield.

Meanwhile, in the evening there is also all-weather action from Kempton under the floodlights.

Thursday’s fixture list takes in five UK and Irish horse racing meetings, and there is afternoon action over the sticks at Wincanton, Carlisle and Thurles in Ireland.

Meanwhile, Thursday’s all-weather action comes from Southwell in the afternoon, and from Chelmsford in the evening under the floodlights.

Five meetings go to post across the UK and Ireland on Friday, with the day’s jumps racing action coming from the cards at Leicester and Sandown, where the Grand Military Gold Cup is the feature of the afternoon at the Esher track.

There is also afternoon all-weather action from Lingfield, as well as further fixtures under the floodlights from Newcastle on tapeta, and Dundalk in Ireland on polytrack in the evening.

SATURDAY 9 MARCH


Saturday takes in six UK and Irish horse racing meetings, and it is Imperial Cup Day at Sandown where the classy handicap boasts a bonus for any horse winning that race and going on to win at the Cheltenham Festival.

Further jumps racing action on Saturday comes from the meetings at Hereford and Ayr, as well as from Gowran Park in Ireland.

Saturday’s all-weather action meanwhile comes from Wolverhampton in the afternoon, and from Kempton in the evening.
