Brian Healy takes a look ahead to this week's UK and Irish horse racing fixture list where he details the pick of this week's action.

A new week of horse racing action gets underway from Monday, and there is plenty to look forward to for punters, not least with Doncaster’s end-of-season fixture on Saturday which heralds the final curtain call on the 2018 Flat Racing season.

The competitive November Handicap headlines the day’s final racecard on turf as the Flat Season draws to a close; while over the sticks the Grade Two Haldon Gold Cup heads to post at Exeter on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Wincanton’s racecard over the sticks plays host to the Badger Ales’ Trophy, as well as the Grade Two pairing of the Rising Stars Novices’ Chase and the Elite Hurdle; while the Grade Two Lismullen Hurdle and Grade two Fortria Chase both feature on Navan’s Sunday racecard in Ireland.


MONDAY 5 NOVEMBER


Monday’s horse racing action sees just three UK meetings going to post, with jumps action taking place on the cards at both Plumpton and Hereford; while on the all-weather there is a meeting under the floodlights at Kempton.

Plumpton (jumps) - 1.30 - 4.00pm (6 races)
Hereford (jumps) - 1.45 - 4.15pm (6 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 4.30 - 7.30pm (7 races)

TUESDAY 6 NOVEMBER


Five UK and Irish horse racing meetings will go to post on Tuesday, with flat racing action from Redcar on turf and Wolverhampton on the all-weather; while over the sticks there is a meeting at Exeter where the Haldon Gold Cup headlines the afternoon’s jumps action.

There is also a jumps racing card in Ireland at Fairyhouse, while Kempton race again over their all-weather surface on Tuesday evening.

Redcar (flat) - 12.15 - 4.05pm (8 races)
Fairyhouse (jumps) - 12.20 - 3.40pm (7 races)
Exeter (jumps) - 1.00 - 4.15pm (7 races)

WEDNESDAY 7 NOVEMBER


Wednesday plays host to six UK and Irish horse racing meetings, with afternoon racing action on the flat from the card at Nottingham; while over the sticks there are jumps racing meetings going to post at both Musselburgh and Chepstow.

In the evening, a trio of all-weather fixtures take place with action under the floodlights at Newcastle and Chelmsford, and also Dundalk in Ireland.

THURSDAY 8 NOVEMBER 


Five UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Thursday, and there is plenty of jumps racing action taking place with fixtures over the sticks at Newbury, Market Rasen and Sedgefield; while in Ireland there is a fixture at Thurles.

Completing Thursday’s fixture list as an all-weather meeting on the polytrack at Chelmsford under the floodights.

Newbury (jumps) - 12.40 - 4.00pm (7 races)
Thurles (jumps) - 12.45 - 4.10pm (7 races)
Market Rasen (jumps) - 12.55 - 3.40pm (6 races)
Sedgefield (jumps) - 1.05 - 3.50pm (6 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.45 - 8.45pm (7 races)

Market Rasen are racing on Thursday.


FRIDAY 9 NOVEMBER


Five meetings head to post on Friday, with afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Warwick, Hexham and Fontwell; while on the all-weather there are meetings under the floodlights at both Newcastle and Dundalk in Ireland.

SATURDAY 10 NOVEMBER


Six UK and Irish horse racing meetings will head to post throughout Saturday, and Doncaster’s fixture heralds the end of the 2018 Flat Racing season on turf with the November Handicap taking centre stage alongside some Listed action.

There is plenty of classy jumps racing action meanwhile at Wincanton where it is Badger Ales Trophy day, and a cracking racecard at the Somerset track also features the Grade Two Elite Hurdle as well as the Grade Two Rising Stars Novices’ Chase.

Aintree are also racing on Saturday over the sticks along with Kelso, and also Naas in Ireland where there is Grade Three action on the card.

Completing Saturday’s fixture line-up is an evening all-weather meeting on the Chelmsford polytrack.

SUNDAY 11 NOVEMBER


The week ends as it began with a three-fixture schedule of horse racing action which takes in jumps racing action from Sandown and Ffos Las, while Navan in Ireland are also racing over the sticks.

There is Listed action on the card at Sandown with the Future Stars Intermediate Chase, as well as competitive veteran action with the latest round of the veterans’ series; while in Ireland the Grade Two Lismullen Hurdle and Grade Two Fortria Chase are both on the agenda.
