Tuesday 30th April expert tips - Youcannotbeserious, Klassical Dream and Min the tipster's treble today

Jonathan Vine 30 Apr 2019
A view of the runners on day one of the Punchestown Festival.

We've taken a look through various horse racing media publications to bring you which horses the newspaper experts are backing on day one at Punchestown.

Peter O'Hehir (The Irish Mirror)
3.40 Youcannotbeserious (5/4 BetVictor)
4.20 Klassical Dream (NAP) (8/13 BetVictor)
4.55 Konitho (5/1 BetVictor)
5.30 Min (8/15 BetVictor)
6.05 Son Of Camas (2/1 BetVictor)
6.40 Delta Work (13/8 BetVictor)
7.15 Front View (11/4 BetVictor)

Mick Fitzgerald's Best Bets (Paddy Power Blog)
4.20 The opening novice hurdle is a chance to see the Supreme Novice Hurdle winner Klassical Dream again. He’s odds on and is obviously the one to beat under Ruby Walsh. However, his stablemate QUICK GRABIM (6/1 BetVictor) could run a big race at an each-way price. He has a lot of speed and Punchestown on decent ground will suit. He is at least worth an each-way play or something in the ‘without the favourite’ market.

4.55 I like is English raider BELARGUS (10/1 BetVictor) at the bottom of the weights. He won like a nice horse at Ascot and is still unexposed. With just 9st 13lbs on his back, he looks primed top run a big one in a race where Paddy’s paying the first four each-way.

5.30 The feature race of the day is the Champion Chase and it’s very hard to look past MIN (8/15 BetVictor) . I was at Punchestown when he won here last year and was so impressed. He’d an off-day behind Altior at Cheltenham but bounced back to win well at Aintree and his form is strong.

6.40 You have the market leaders Delta Work and A PLUS TARD (9/4 BetVictor) and the Ruby Walsh-ridden Getabird for good measure. Will A Plus Tard be as good over 3miles as 2m 5f. If he is then they will struggle to contain him. Delta Work fans were a little disappointed with his tame finish at the Festival when third behind Topofthegame and Santini in the RSA Chase. Getabird was a very highly thought of as a point-to-pointer but I don’t think he wants this trip.

Brian O'Connor (Irish Times)
3.40 Youcannotbeserious (5/4 BetVictor)
4.20 Klassical Dream (8/13 BetVictor)
4.55 La Sorelita (9/1 BetVictor)
5.30 Min (8/15 BetVictor)
6.05 Fiston de Becon  (5/1 BetVictor)
6.40 A Plus Tard (9/4 BetVictor)
7.15 Front View (NAP) (11/4 BetVictor)

Steve Mullen's Top Tips (The Sun)
5.30 Seven Champion Chase victors scored on their most recent run. MIN (8/15 BetVictor) has another major tick in having won at Aintree last time out. Three of the past 10 winners were last sighted at Liverpool from just 14 runners and backing them all has generated a small profit. Min can add to that tally today.

6.40 We just lean towards DELTA WORK (13/8 BetVictor). Only four horses with a previous win over the 3m trip have run in this race in the past decade and two of them won. That bodes well for Gordon Elliott’s six-year-old who scored over this distance at Leopardstown before his good third in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham last time out. The yard won this last year which is another positive trend.

Brendan Duke (RTE)
3.40 Blue Templar (3/1 BetVictor)
4.20 Klassical Dream (8/13 BetVictor)
4.55 Golden Spear (7/1 BetVictor)
5.30 Un De Sceaux (11/4 BetVictor)
6.05 Fiston De Becon (5/1 BetVictor)
6.40 Getabird (10/3 BetVictor)
7.15 Farceur Du Large (5/2 BetVictor)

Johnny Ward's Best Bets (RacingTV)
6.40 This is a fascinating race, with the returning Getabird stepping up to three miles. He needs to go right-handed but the trip is a little concern. Delta Work ought to be hard to beat but DISCORAMA (18/1 BetVictor) has very solid each-way claims. His Cheltenham run, when runner-up in the National Hunt Chase, advertised how he is progressing and that he has the class to compete at this level.

7.15 FRACEUR DU LARGE (5/2 BetVictor) is quite a well-regarded sort and he made a bright start when third at Limerick, giving the impression he would benefit for the run. Moreover, he lacked space when trying to run on and deserved to finish closer. This greater stamina test will suit.

Timeform Tips
3.40 Youcannotbeserious (5/4 BetVictor)
4.20 Klassical Dream (NAP) (8/13 BetVictor)
4.55 Cosmo's Moon (10/1 BetVictor)
5.30 Min (8/15 BetVictor)
6.05 Son Of Camas (2/1 BetVictor)
6.40 A Plus Tard (9/4 BetVictor)
7.15 Front View (11/4 BetVictor)
