Peters Cousin leads the way in the betting for this tightly contested Mares Handicap but, for me, he looks rather weak. Nicky Richards’ charge was well backed to win on her handicap debut and managed to finish third, plus I’m not sure the drop back in trip is going to help.

Sula Island comes into this with some good form next to her name and should have a chance off top weight. Preference, however, is definitely for RATOUTE YUTTY and a reproduction of her performance at Ascot would surely be enough to win here.

Dan Skelton threw his recruit in at the deep-end on her stable debut, entering Ratoute Yutty into a hot Class Two at Ascot. Harry Skelton’s mount was off the pace from the get go, but worked her ay back into the race nicely to finish six lengths behind Didtheyleaveuoutto in fourth.

Since then, Skelton has been running his mare over longer trips in handicap company. Ratoute Yutty was leading for much of the race at Cheltenham before fading in the final quarter mile and really struggled to find any rhythm at Chepstow, crossing the line a distant fifth.

Dropping back in trip seems a sensible decision, especially when you watch the way Ratoute Yutty came home at Cheltenham. Sure, she was gaining weight for sex, but she was close in behind three horses rated around the 140-mark come the end of the race, clocking a better RPR than anyone else in this race has managed thus far. This is a significantly weaker race than that was and, even under 11-10, Ratoute Yutty should be too good for her rivals on Friday.
