Friday’s racing tips – Money back if our 4/1 NAP at Haydock gets beaten

Jonathan Vine 10 Aug 2018
Haydock races.

Our expert takes a look through all of Friday’s cards and picks out an interesting novice running at Haydock as his best bet of the day with Paddy Power.

Friday’s racegoers are in for a treat today, with jumps and flat racing action continuing well into the afternoon. Haydock’s evening card is likely to attract a decent crowd this evening and it’s to a novice contest at the Merseyside venue where our expert looks to find his NAP of the day with Paddy Power.

Sign up with Paddy Power today, place your first bet of £20 on our NAP of the day and you'll get your money back in cash if your NAP is beaten!

Motafaawit has made an impressive start to his racing career, comfortably beating Haydock rival Nayef Road before running the highly-touted Legends Of War extremely close on his most recent outing. While the favourite definitely deserves his odds-on price, this field is twice as large as any he has ever faced and he’ll have to give a significant amount of weight to some dangerous rivals.

Bullion Boss is likely to improve after an encouraging third on debut, but my eye is drawn to ZOFFEE, who’s run well behind some decent opposition and could be well placed to open his account this evening.

Tom Dascombe’s charge travelled to Haydock on his debut and acquitted himself well over this trip, finishing just over three lengths behind the winners in third. The victor that day was More Than This, who extended his unbeaten record at Glorious Goodwood last week, and runner-up Arctic Sound has recorded two straight wins since that narrow defeat.

Zoffee had to settle for third again over an extra half-furlong at Ffos Las. Richard Kingscote decided to take his mount back at the start and his late charge from the rear got him within a length of winning odds-on favourite, Fox Tal as they crossed the line.

Kingscote is the go-to man here at Haydock and rode a first-time winner here for Tom Dascombe on yesterday’s card. Zoffee has some impressive and consistent form in the book and the experience he gained when making his debut on this tricky track could be crucial.
