2:40pm Huntingdon Pertemps Lady Protectress Mares' Chase (Listed Race) 2m4f

Casablanca Mix has recorded some good results over course-and-distance, finishing second to Willoughby Court before a lengthy victory over Theatre Territory. She was, however, the beaten favourite in a similar contest to this over three miles in November and never got into her running behind Frodon in the Caspian Caviar. She returns to Huntingdon with a point to prove.

Happy Diva, on the other hand, has secured some creditable results in mixed-sex company this term, most notably a second to Aso at Cheltenham on New Years Day. Kerry Lee’s mare has been underestimated again and offers value, but she often finds one or two who are better then she and MAGIC OF LIGHT will take all the beating here.

After Jessica Harrington’s mare finished a highly creditable third in the Troytown Handicap on her reappearance, Magic Of Light was brought over to England for the first time, powering to a hugely impressive victory over three miles at Newbury. Robbie Power’s mount then took her chance in the Grade Two Mares’ Hurdle at Ascot last weekend and, once again, secured another impressive victory.

Magic Of Light was my NAP that day and I was never worried. Harrington’s eight-year-old traveled like the classiest mare throughout and kept up to her work nicely in the closing stages. Returning to chasing should be a plus and she won after a ten-day break towards the end of last season, so the quick turnaround shouldn’t be a bother either.

Connections said on Saturday that her appearance at Ascot was a last minute decision, they simply thought it was worthwhile considering she was already in England to target this race. Magic Of Light sits ten pounds higher than any of her six rivals and has winning form over this trip on a right-handed track. I can’t see the favourite getting beat.
