Brian Healy gives his live TV selections for Saturday's televised horse racing action on ITV Racing where ten races will be shown live from York, Newmarket and Ascot.

In addition to racing at Newmarket, the cameras will also be in action at Ascot where the Summer Mile goes to post; while it is John Smith’s Cup day at York.

12:45 Ascot - Bet With Ascot Heritage Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 5f ITV

Smart sprinter LINE OF REASON (8/1, Coral) got back to winning ways when striking at Ayr five days ago, and the Kheleyf gelding can quickly follow up under a penalty.

Paul Midgley’s charge wasscoring for the first time since the previous June, but he had run some creditable efforts in defeat in high company and served notice that his turn in the winners’ enclosure may not be too far off with solid efforts at Beverley when beaten behind Judicial - winner again since - and when a fast-finishing third at the Curragh latest.

He scored with something to spare last time over Golden Steps, and he remains well-treated under a penalty on the pick of his form so it would be no surprise to see another bold show from the eight-year old who looked as good as ever last time.

1:05 Newmarket - bet365 Superlative Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV

It was hard not to have been impressed by the manner in which QUORTO (3/1, Ladbrokes) won on his debut here last month, readily coming clear of Handmaiden to score by the better part of three lengths.

Charlie Appleby’s Dubawi colt saw that form take a boost when the runner-up filled the same position in a race here on Thursday, and open to significant improvement the Godolphin runner can follow up here.

He looked potentially smart when making that winning debut, and while this is tougher upped in class, he looks sure to progress and no surprise to see him follow up.

1:20 Ascot - Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m ITV

French raider TRAIS FLOURS (8/1, Paddy Power) makes the journey to Ascot from Andre Fabre’s Chantilly base, and the Dansili colt can make a return to winning ways.

A winner of his first four starts, including a Group Three at Chantilly last July, he has performed with credit in a series of French Group One contests, with his sole disappointment coming at Meydan in March behind Benbatl.

He has finished third to Recoletos at Longchamp in May, and runner-up behind Hunaina at Chantilly this term, beaten a short-head in the latter; a repeat of that effort may be enough to see him get back on the scoresheet, and he ought to go well.

1:40 Newmarket - bet365 Bunbury Cup Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 7f ITV

MUBTASIM (8/1, Paddy Power) won three of his first four starts back in the 2016 season, which included the 2-Y-O Stakes at Doncaster, and William Haggas’ charge could get back on the scoresheet here having failed to add to his tally.

Last term saw the Arcano gelding highly tried in Group company, and he acquitted himself well with third-place efforts behind Harry Angel in the Sandy Lane Stakes, and behind Le Brivido in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Although later runs were disappointing, he has bounced back this term with in-the-frame efforts at Chelmsford and Haydock latterly in Listed company; and likely to get the strong pace he needs, he can go close off this mark.

1:55 York - John Smith's City Walls Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f ITV

Muthmir was arguably unlucky not to score at Sandown last time, but it could be worth keeping the admirable TAKE COVER (5/1, William Hill) onside as the veteran bids to defend the crown he won twelve months ago.

Derek Griffiths’ Singspiel gelding went on a winning spree after collecting this prize last term, scoring a further three times in total which included the Beverley Bullet and the Dubai World Trophy. He hasn’t disgraced himself in two starts this season, finishing seventh to Battash at Haydock on his return, and then finishing third under a big weight back at Beverley in June behind Judicial.

That rival beat Muthmir at Sandown last term, while the runner-up has also won since and could boost the form if running well at Ascot earlier in the day; but the eleven-year old boasts an excellent record down through the years when making his third start of the campaign, winning all five, and he can give a bold account as he bids to retain his title.

2:15 Newmarket - Darley July Cup Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 6f ITV

The one-mile experiment with US NAVY FLAG (5/1, William Hill) hasn’t reaped any reward and looks to have failed, and Aidan O’Brien now drops the War Front colt back to sprinting after he went off too hard at Ascot last time in the St.James’s Palace Stakes and failed to get home.

Last season’s Middle Park and Dewhurst Stakes winner hasn’t convinced over the longer trip this term, so it no surprise to see him back at a trip over which he won three times last term, and he was second to Cardsharp on his only start over the July Course.

Assuming he hasn’t left something of himself back on the Ascot heath having gone off like a scalded cat last time, the tough and genuine performer could be worth chancing to bounce back returning to a more suitable trip.

2:35 York - John Smith's Silver Cup Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m6f ITV3

All may not have been well when DAL HARRAILD (11/10, Coral) bombed out when finishing last-but-one behind Vazirabad at Meydan back in March, but William Haggas’ charge can bounce back having been given a break following that run.

The absence suggests there may have been a minor problem with the Champs Elysees gelding who had shown very useful form in previous seasons, winning twice at Listed level as well running with credit in defeat in Group company.

He had resumed winning ways with a bloodless defeat of Curbyourenthusiasm at Chelmsford in March prior to his Dubai flop; but he sets a good standard on the pick of his form, and he ought to prove hard to beat if returning to something like his best.

3:10 York - John Smith's Racing Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m ITV3

GET KNOTTED (5/1, Paddy Power) has been knocking on the door of late, making the frame in three of his last four starts, and the Windsor Knot gelding can get back to winning ways here.

Michael Dods’ charge is a dual-winner at this venue, and the last two of his placed efforts have also come on the Knavesmire where he has been beaten less than two lengths each time. He finished the race off strongly last time, so he could be worth chancing back at this longer trip, and he has winning form at one mile.

He was denied a clear run last time out, while the winner has since gone on to win the Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle; Michael Dods’ charge ought to remain competitive, and he can go close again.

3:20 Newmarket - bet365 Mile Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-100) 1m ITV3

CURIOSITY (9/2, Coral) won two of his first three starts last term, scoring at Newcastle and Ascot prior to a creditable sixth to Expert Eye in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

Although subsequently disappointing back at Newcastle, he may have been amiss in beating only one home; but he has returned this term in good heart, making the frame here on the Rowley Mile behind Symbolization, and then finding only Ostilio too strong in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot on his latest start.

He was the only one of the first four home to race away from the centre group, and a 3lbs rise in the weights doesn’t look harsh if he can repeat that effort here.

3:40 York - 59th John Smith's Cup Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 1m2½f ITV3

THUNDERING BLUE (8/1, Ladbrokes) won three times last term, scoring wins at Epsom, Newmarket and Sandown prior to a solid seventh placed effort in the Cambridgeshire on his final start of the campaign.

David Menuisier’s charge build on a promising return to action at Epsom in April to resume winning ways over course and distance, beating Banditry by just over one length; subsequently down the field in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes, he can be forgiven that effort where he raced too freely and failed to get home over the longer trip.

The Exchange Rate gelding is worth another chance down in trip, and while this mark demand plenty from him, he looked progressive previously and he could be up to the task of defying this mark.
