Ed Chamberlain and the ITV Racing team will be on hand to cover the pick of Friday’s action on the July Course with their usual expert analysis and insight; while Brian Healy gives his day two race-by-race selections.

1:50 - bet365 Handicap (Silver Bunbury Cup) Cl2 (3yo+) 7f ITV3

SWIFT APPROVAL (9/2, Coral) has won two of his three starts at this venue, and Stuart Williams’ charge could be worth chancing to get back to winning ways.

The Approve gelding won this race in 2016 when trained by Kevin Ryan, and although his form has been patchy since he did win back here last August. Having resumed winning ways at Lingfield in January, he went close to snapping his losing streak in runs at Goodwood at Epsom prior to disappointing at Newcastle latest where the drop back in trip didn’t suit.

The Approve gelding is 2lbs below the mark he won from in 2016 in this race, and back at this venue with Sylvestre De Sousa booked he can post a big run.

2:25 - Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (Sponsored By bet365) (Group 2) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV3

An intruiging contest to kick off the day two racecard, and the unbeaten MAIN EDITION (11/4, Paddy Power) can extend her winning record to four wins.

Mark Johnston’s Zoffany filly looked to win with something in hand of runner-up La Pelosa when winning the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, and while that rival reopposes here the Johnston runner can uphold the form with further progress likely.

Although there was only a neck separating them at the line, the selection always looked in command over the Godolphin runner, and she looks sure to mount another bold bid as she looks to maintain her unbeaten record.

3:00 - bet365 Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m2f ITV3

DESERT WIND (12/1, William Hill) has done all his winning on the all-weather, but Ed Vaughn’s charge could be worth chancing on just his second start on turf to get back to winning ways.

The Worthadd colt was beaten behind the reopposing Poet’s Prince at Chelmsford in May, but he may just have needed that run after three months off, and there was a lot to like about his turf debut in the Britannia Stakes where he finished fourth to Ostilio, beaten just over two lengths but keeping on well.

He had a subsequent winner behind, and there could be more to come from him just 1lb higher in the weights. Also 4lbs better off with Poet’s Prince from their encounter at
Chelmsford, he can turn the tables on that rival, and the unexposed sort can go close here.

3:35 - Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV3

ALPHA CENTAURI (4/6, Ladbrokes) has proven herself a very high-class performer this term, and Jessica Harrington’s charge can land a hat-trick of wins.

The Mastercraftsman filly won a Listed race on just her second start last term prior to running well in the Albany behind Different League twelve months ago.

Soft and heavy ground were big factors in defeat in both the Moyglare Stud and the 1000 Guineas Trial on her return; but she stamped her class on a good field to win the Irish 1000 Guineas, and then she routed opposition returned to Ascot when powering to a wide margin success over the reopposing Threading in the Coronation Stakes.

Sure to have even more to offer, and clearly suited by a sound surface she can continue in winning form by landing another Group One prize, and she ought to prove hard to beat here.

4:10 - Weatherbys British EBF Maiden Stakes (Plus 10 Race) Cl3 (2yo) 7f RUK

Charlie Appleby’s juvenile debutants continue to carry all before them, and the Godolphin handler saddles three in the race with the choice going to ART DU VAL (5/1, BetVictor) who can make a winning introduction.

The No Nay Never colt was an expensive purchase, but he is a well-related sort to several winners and he is the choice of William Buick from the Godolphin trio.

Market support would prove significant to his chances, but given the Appleby/Buick record when the pair team up with newcomers he has to be of significant interest and no surprise to see him firmly in the mix in an informative contest.

4:45 - Gordon's Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 1m6f RUK

HAMADA (7/2, Coral) is far from exposed, and Charlie Appleby’s charge made light of a lengthy absence to score at Wolverhampton back in April.

The Cape Cross gelding struck again at York in May, beating Crowned Eagle by a head, but shaping as if there was more in the locker having brought up the hat-trick of wins.

The Godolphin runner has seen that form franked by the runner-up going close in the Old Newton Cup, and a 4lbs rise in the weights doesn’t look prohibitive given that subsequent form boost.

Open to further improvement, he ought to post another big run, and no surprise if he wins again.

5:20 - Saeed Suhail Saeed Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-90) 1m RUK

It could be worth giving another chance to CORROSIVE (3/1, Coral) who had looked progressive in racking up a three-timer of wins either side of a break, and Hugo Palmer’s charge wasn’t disgraced when finishing tenth in the Britannia Stakes.

The Uncle Mo colt had struck at Kempton, Yarmouth and Ascot previously, but he couldn’t quite find the gears to be competitive last time, and this looks a slightly easier contest.

He could easily bounce back taking a slight ease in grade and no surprise if he were to quickly resume winning ways.
