Royal County Down may be travelling to Cork looking to complete a hat-trick, but he’s proven himself a tricky costumer to deal with and Aidan O’Brien has decided to give blinkers a try. Stablemate, Mythological came up just a neck short of his rival when they clashed at Galway last time out and the gap between the two in the weights has widened by two pounds, so he could have a decent chance of turning the tables.

While many will feel the O’Brien horses at the head of the market are hard to oppose, neither look like they have too much left to give. Jessica Harrington has been having a good time of things with her juveniles this term and this looks an excellent opportunity for SILENCE PLEASE to build on an encouraging debut victory.

The Gleneagles filly entered the stalls as a 6/1 shot at Gowran Park and a sluggish start meant she gave the prominent horses a decent head-start. Silence Please worked her way into the race very nicely, hitting the front a furlong from home before stretching to an extremely comfortably victory.

Seven furlong races at Cork used to be run around the tight, right-handed bend, meaning it was a big negative to find yourself drawn high. However, the chute has been extended to seven-furlongs and, over five and six furlongs, horses drawn high often do better than those in lower number.

Silence Please will come out of the widest stall of all in gate seven, with two likely pacesetters drawn on her immediate inside, so it should be very easy for Harrington’s filly to slot in and find some early cover. If all goes to plan during the first half of the race, then I’m hoping Silence Please’s emerging talent will shine through, as she bids to upset the O’Brien duo.
