2:20pm Naas Racecourse Business Club Novice Chase (Grade 3) 3m

Shady Operator got the better of Ballyward when they clashed last time and both should be a factor here. Joseph O’Brien’s charge was, however, well beaten by CHRIS’S DREAM when the pair clashed on their chasing debut at Navan and the favourite looks open to plenty of progression.

Chris’s Dream made the move to Henry De Bromhead’s yard last Christmas and made an excellent impression on debut, storming to a 60-length success in a novice hurdle. On the back of that, many fancied the seven-year-old to run a big race in the Albert Bartlett, but it wasn’t to be at the Festival, with Chris’s Dream crossing the line a well-beaten ninth.

De Bromhead was always confident his recruit would be a much more dangerous form over fences, so he will have been pleased to see Chris’s Dream get the win at Navan. Robbie Power’s mount pulled himself to the front of the field at the end of the first circuit and his jumping wasn’t fluent throughout, but the second-favourite had more than enough about him to see off some capable rivals and claim a three-length victory.

Shady Operator has since boosted the form, as did runner-up Gun Digger, who claimed an 18 length victory at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival on his very next start. Stepping up to three miles should really suit Chris’s Dream and his jumping is bound to have improved between runs. He, and Robbie Power, could be very difficult to beat.
