4:10pm Windsor Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap (Class 3) 1m

With just six pounds separating the top and bottom weights, this interesting five-runner handicap will be much more like a conditions races, putting the onus on recent and course form, rather than whether your chosen punt is treated nicely at the weights. Family Fortunes and Arcanada are both clearly more comfortable on an all-weather surface and there are others in here who hold much greater appeal.

Mr Tyrell has a good record here at Windsor, winning over a mile on his first start of the season. Three-year-old Sash, who was last seen finishing fourth behind the impressive Flashcard at Ascot, is also a course-and-distance winner, having scored nicely on his penultimate start.

SPIRIT WARNING may have only finished third on his debut here at Windsor. However, Andrew Balding’s colt clocked a quicker time than both Mr Tyrell and Sash managed during that defeat – despite making his own running – and I think Oisin Murphy’s battle-hardened mount will be the one to side with as conditions worsen at Windsor on Sunday.

Balding’s three-year-old has only managed to win one of his six starts this season, that coming on the all-weather at Chelmsford. Despite that, Spirit Warning has shown enough to suggest he’s perfectly capable of winning on turf, finishing a close second to Lincoln Park on soft ground at Chester, before two good placed efforts in with his elders in two high-quality handicaps.

No jockey has ridden more winners at Windsor this season than Oisin Murphy and he will be keen to go one better than the narrow second he and Spirit Warning managed behind the impressive Mutarafa last time out. Spirit Warning’s RPRs suggest he’s getting better with each of his starts as a three-year-old and I think he could be difficult to beat - even if he has to set the pace once again.
