Thursday 27th December expert tips - Quel Destin and Momella a popular ITV Racing double

Jonathan Vine 27 Dec 2018
Kempton Park races.

We've taken a look through various horse racing media publications to bring you which horses the experts are tipping at today's major meetings at Kempton, Chepstow and Leopardstown.

Captain Heath's Trio (The Daily Mail)
Kemp 12.50 Deadline Diva (5/2 Ladbrokes)
Chep 1.05 Le Rocher (8/1 Ladbrokes)
Chep 2.50 Final Nudge (14/1 Coral)

Rob Wright (The Times)
Chepstow
12.30 Jammy George (13/2 Coral)
1.05 Calipto (8/1 William Hill)
1.35 Quel Destin (11/4 Betfair)
2.10 Virginia Chick (8/1 Ladbrokes)
2.50 Elegant Escape (11/2 William Hill)
3.25 Brynmawr (10/1 Coral)
3.55 Ask For Glory (Evens Ladbrokes)

Kempton Park
12.50 Nebuchadnezzar (15/8 Coral)
1.20 Maria’s Benefit (9/2 Betfair)
1.55 Momella (6/4 William Hill)
2.30 Altior (2/11 Coral)
3.05 Just A Sting (10/3 Ladbrokes)
3.35 Great Hall (NAP) (10/1 Betfair)

Templegate (The Sun)
Chep 1.05 DUSKY LARK (8/1 Coral) should have us laughing all the way to the bank. He’s well weighted on his last win and he bounced back to form following a few below-par efforts when runner-up behind smart prospect Siruh Du Lac at Exeter last time.

Kemp 1.20 Fire into KALASHNIKOV (4/6 William Hill) in the Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase. He was up there with the best 2m novice hurdlers last season when landing the Betfair Hurdle and coming within a neck of winning the Supreme at Cheltenham.

Chep 1.35 Back French import ADJALI (8/15 Ladbrokes) to come first in the Coral Finale Juvenile Hurdle. He could not have won any easier on his British debut at Market Rasen three weeks ago. The opposition probably wasn’t particularly strong but he brushed them aside without any fuss.

Kemp 1.55 Top weight MOMELLA (6/4 William Hill) had some proper novice form for Dan Skelton last season. Her Cheltenham handicap win was sandwiched between placed efforts behind top operators On The Blind Side and Black Op.

Chep 2.10 TRUCKERS LODGE (5/2 Coral) should motor home. He only joined Paul Nicholls this season and he came good when upped to 3m for the first time over today’s course and distance three weeks ago.

Kemp 2.30 There's no point trying to take on ALTIOR (2/11 Coral) in the Desert Orchid Chase. It’s fairly likely he’ll have a race named after him when he hangs up his racing plates but that’s not going to be for a good while yet.

Chep 2.50 Touch down with KANSAS CITY CHIEF (25/1 Betfair) in the Coral Welsh National. He’s yet to run over fences since joining Neil Mulholland but that doesn’t put me off. Some of his chase form in Ireland was promising and he bolted up over hurdles at Doncaster last January.

Kemp 3.05 SPRINGTOWN LAKE (10/3 Betfair) was promising over hurdles but he looks to have improved a lot for the switch to fences. His Sandown handicap win was a decent starting point and he was trying to give 5lbs to smart prospect Mr Whipped when runner-up at Haydock. That’s good form and he has won on today’s better ground.

Greg Wood (The Guardian)
Chepstow
12.30 Present Value (7/1 Coral)
1.05 Touch Kick (9/2 Ladbrokes)
1.35 Quel Destin (11/4 Betfair)
2.10 Truckers Lodge (5/2 Coral)
2.50 Folsom Blue (NAP) (8/1 Ladbrokes)
3.25 Yalltari (3/1 William Hill)
3.55 Imperial Esprit (7/1 Ladbrokes)

Kempton Park
12.50 Nebuchadnezzar (15/8 Coral)
1.20 Kalashnikov (4/6 William Hill)
1.55 Sainte Ladylime (7/1 Betfair)
2.30 Altior (2/11 Coral)
3.05 Just A Sting (10/3 Ladbrokes)
3.35 Jacbequick (12/1 Coral

Sam Turner (The Daily Mail)
Chepstow
12.30 Jammy George (13/2 Coral)
1.05 Le Rocher (8/1 Ladbrokes)
1.35 Quel Destin (NAP) (11/4 Betfair)
2.10 Truckers Lodge (5/2 Coral)
2.50 Elegant Escape (11/2 William Hill)
3.25 Yalltari (3/1 William Hill)
3.55 Ask For Glory (Evens Ladbrokes)

Kempton
12.50 Deadline Diva (5/2 Ladbrokes)
1.20 Dynamite Dollars (7/2 Coral)
1.55 Momella (6/4 William Hill)
2.30 Altior (2/11 Coral)
3.05 Deauville Dancer (11/1 Betfair)
3.35 Malaya (9/2 Coral)

-------------------------------------------

Peter O'Hehir (The Irish Mirror)
12.10 Sir Erec (NAP) (Evens William Hill)
12.40 Paloma Blue (15/8 Ladbrokes)
1.15 Footpad (11/10 Coral)
1.50 Triplicate (3/1 Betfair)
2.25 Tudor City (5/1 Ladbrokes)
3.00 Any Second Now (12/1 Coral)
3.30 K’chou Du Pecos Aa (6/4 Ladbrokes)

Eamonn Hames (The Sun)
12.40 PALOMA BLUE (15/8 Ladbrokes) took a little time to find his feet over hurdles before winning here last season and I’m hoping that it will be a similar scenario now chasing.

1.15 Great horses need other great horses to run against and that is exactly what GREAT FIELD (4/1 Ladbrokes) gets here in today’s Grade 1 Sugar Paddy Chase.

1.50 A disappointing renewal of the Future Champions Novice Hurdle that could go the way of the lightly raced DALY TIGER (5/1 Coral).

2.25 STAR MAKER (10/1 Coral) has to be ridden with plenty of confidence, but he has found a different gear since being waited with and looked to have stacks in hand at Punchestown last month.

3.00 DE NAME ESCAPES ME (8/1 Betfair) is in the form of his life this season and looked on great terms with himself at Navan earlier in the month.

Johnny Ward (RTE)
12.10 Tiger Tap Tap (15/8 Coral)
12.40 Real Steel (7/2 Betfair)
1.15 Great Field (4/1 Ladbrokes)
1.50 Daly Tiger (5/1 Coral)
2.25 Twobeelucky (25/1 William Hill)
3.00 De Name Escapes Me (8/1 Betfair)
3.30 Air Gold (20/1 Coral)
