Thursday 16th February expert tips - Lah Ti Dar and Well Done Fox the tipster's double on Dante day

Jonathan Vine 16 May 2019
York races.

We've taken a look through various horse racing media publications to bring you which horses the newspaper experts are tipping on day two of York's Dante Festival.

Rob Wright (The Times)
York
1.50 Harome (NAP) (25/1 William Hill)
2.25 Lah Ti Dar (1/2 bet365)
3.00 Too Darn Hot (11/10 William Hill)
3.35 Ulshaw Bridge (18/1 Ladbrokes)
4.05 Well Done Fox (15/2 bet365)
4.35 Hong Kong (7/2 William Hill)
5.05 Running Cloud (6/1 Ladbrokes)

Templegate (The Sun)
1.50 York - EEH BAH GUM (20/1 Ladbrokes) should keep the York locals happy. Tim Easterby’s speedster got a great record over 5f on fast ground and he notched up the last of his five wins last season over today’s course and distance. It’s easy to forgive his below-par effort when well beaten behind Saaheq at Musselburgh as it was his first run of the year and he was poorly drawn.
2.25 York - LAH TI DAR (1/2 bet365) will show her brother how it’s done in the Middleton Stakes. Her little bro Too Darn Hot goes in the Dante so it could be a great day for one for the Lloyd-Webber’s fine family. Lah Ti Dar completed a hat-trick of wins with a stunning ten-length victory over slightly further at this track in August.
3.00 York - JAPAN (5/1 William Hill) should add to Aidan O’Brien’s all-powerful Derby squad in the Al Basti Dante Stakes. Not only has O’Brien dominated the trials for the Epsom Classic over the last week, incredibly, not a single horse from another stable has finished in front of any of his runners.
3.35 York - Take a chance on BLESS HIM (14/1 bet365). He looked like he could develop into a Group performer when landing the Britannia at Royal Ascot a couple of years ago. It didn’t really happen for him last season but it means he’s slipped in the weights. He’s also been gelded over the winter and the likely fast pace will suit his hold-up style.

Greg Wood (The Guardian)
1.50 Eeh Bah Gum (NAP) (20/1 Ladbrokes)
2.25 Lah Ti Dar (1/2 bet365)
3.00 Telecaster (13/2 William Hill)
3.35 Love Dreams (10/1 Ladbrokes)
4.05 Well Done Fox (15/2 bet365)
4.35 Hong Kong (7/2 William Hill)
5.05 Pipes Of Peace (7/1 bet365)

Sam Turner (The Daily Mail)
York
1.50 Copper Knight (11/1 William Hill)
2.25 Lah Ti Dar (1/2 bet365)
3.00 Too Darn Hot (11/10 William Hill)
3.35 Beringer (5/1 Ladbrokes)
4.05 Soldier’s Call (15/8 bet365)
4.35 Hong Kong (7/2 William Hill)
5.05 Waiting For Richie (NAP) (14/1 Ladbrokes)

Steve Mullen (The Sun)
1.50 SAAHEQ (9/1 William Hill) gets the nod in this wide open contest. He ran his best race for a long time when battling well to win over this distance at Musselburgh last time. He’s up the weights but has a decent draw and could have more to offer.
2.25 LAH TI DAR (1/2 bet365) shouldn’t have to hit anything like top gear to start the season with a win. She carried all before her when winning a Listed contest over course and distance last season before two excellent runs at Group 1 level, particularly when stretched by the St Leger trip.
3.00 TOO DARN HOT (11/10 William Hill) was hot favourite for the 2,000 Guineas before what is hopefully just a minor injury interrupted his season. He was blistering last season and finished by winning the Dewhurst in great style. It is reportedly all systems go for the Derby and he’ll be close to full fitness for this comeback and looks the one to beat.
3.35 BERINGER (5/1 Ladbrokes) has been upped just 3lb despite winning in gutsy fashion at Newmarket last time out. He showed the positive signs of a breathing operation there and could be a few pounds ahead of the assessor over an ideal trip.

Timeform Tips
York
1.50 Cowboy Soldier (7/1 Ladbrokes)
2.25 Lah Ti Dar (1/2 bet365)
3.00 Too Darn Hot (11/10 William Hill)
3.35 Hortzadar (7/1 bet365)
4.05 Shades Of Blue (13/2 Ladbrokes)
4.35 Repartee (10/1 William Hill)
5.05 Carnwennan (11/2 bet365)
