Thursday’s racing tips - 9/4 NAP looks set for more Chester success

Copper Knight (near) winning her at Chester two years ago.

Our expert takes a look through every race on day two of Chester’s May Festival and highlights a strong challenger in the opening sprint handicap as his NAP of the day with Paddy Power.

1:50pm Chester Gateley PLC Handicap (Class 2) 5f

Course form here at Chester is often extremely valuable and Copper Knight is a two-time winner over course-and-distance. In fact, Easterby’s five-year-old has twice won at this very meeting, scoring in a juvenile contest before winning the five furlong three-year-old handicap on day one in 2017.

Copper Knight has come close to winning off this sort of mark in more competitive races in the past. The five-year-old seems to do his best work when there’s a little give in the ground. Stall one is the perfect draw for a horse who likes to win from the front and Copper Knight ran a promising race at Musselburgh on his reappearance, where he was out the back early on and made up plenty of ground to finish fourth. 9/4 is good enough for me!
