Kupatana will be having her first start here for Paul Nicholls, having made the move from Nicky Henderson’s yard. Nicholls has immediately removed the headgear the six-year-old has been wearing since her third career start and it’s possible the chance of surroundings will bring about a change in fortunes.

Nicholls’ recruit, however, has shown extremely patchy form this term, losing comfortably when going to post as the even-money favourite. I’m prepared to take Kaputana on and, although Cave Top could run a good race, KAYF BLANCO certainly looks to be the one to side with.

Two poor performances either side of the new season aside, Graeme McPherson’s ten-year-old has been a dependable sort over fences. Kayf Blanco had eight placed efforts to his name before arriving at Fakenham earlier this month and the victory he had threatened for some time finally arrived, with Keilan Woods’ mount surging to a comfortable eight-length triumph.

The handicapper has taken a swipe at Kayf Blanco, upping him by seven pounds to a mark of 130. McPherson’s charge has run well off that mark a couple of times in the past and Tom Humphries’ claimer will ensure Kayf Blanco will be in receipt of ten pounds from Kupatana. He looks the one to beat for me.
