Thursday’s racing tips – Back our 3/1 NAP at Newmarket and get a free bet

Our expert takes a look through all of Thursday’s televised races from Newmarket and picks out a prime contender in the opening race of the afternoon as his NAP of the day with Ladbrokes.

Newmarket’s July Festival kicks off in fitting fashion on Thursday, with two excellent Group Twos headlining the card. The Group Three Bahrain Trophy opens tomorrow’s proceedings and it’s to that race where our expert looks for his NAP of the day with Ladbrokes.

Sign up with Ladbrokes today and when you place a bet of up to £50 on our NAP at Newmarket, you’ll receive a matched stake free bet to be used on any sportsbook market.

Many would argue that, had it not been for Jim Crowley blocking his path on eventual winner Baghdad, First Eleven would have won the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot. As it was, Frankie Dettori had to settle for a narrow defeat and John Gosden’s progressive colt currently leads the betting for this Festival opener.

While he, Loxley and Caliburn look open to improvement, this will be a first taste of Grouped action for all three and experience at this level is invaluable. Wells Farhh Go won a Group Three during his juvenile campaign. However, after two fairly uncompetitive runs over a-mile-and-a-half, I’m surprised to see the Acomb winner upped in trip, as opposed to a significant drop.

With negatives against most in the field, GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI’S name stands out and, on form and ratings alone, he should really be winning the Bahrain Trophy.

Like many of Aidan O’Brien’s top colts, it took the son of Galileo a couple of races to get up to speed. Giuseppe Garibaldi followed an impressive maiden triumph over this distance with a Listed victory at the Curragh, before heading to Royal Ascot as one of three Ballydoyle runners in the King Edward VII Stakes.

Old Persian proved a little too hardy on the day, but Seamie Heffernan’s mount stayed on well for third. A result he bettered in the Curragh Cup the following week, crossing the line just two lengths behind stablemate Flag Of Honour in second.

Ryan Moore takes the ride this time and his record here at Newmarket is impressive. Giuseppe Garibaldi is a confirmed stayer on this ground, with two placed efforts in much higher quality races to his name already this summer. His current price looks extremely appealing.
