Cobolobo ran a storming race in behind Kilbricken Storm on his first start over fences. Whether that was just a one-off for the 40/1 shot is yet to be seen and he’ll be giving away a lot in terms of experience as he makes his handicap debut in open company. Some Chaos has won well twice already this season, but Michael Scudamore’s charge has been bumped up the weights by 13 pounds and will have to prove himself again at this sort of level.

So, with the market leaders looking vulnerable, an each-way punt looks the order of the day. Reikers Island ran well on his last start and has to be respected, but it’s CAPTAIN BUCK’S who looks best treated at the weights and Paul Nicholls could be left celebrating at Wincanton, once again.

Nicholls’ charge may still be a maiden over fences, but he’s run well in plenty of big races carrying a rating higher than this. Captain Buck’s finished in the places four times during his novice campaign and even took in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. Nicholls sent his charge here to Wincanton on his first start of the new season and the six-year-old ran well in defeat once again, crossing the line less than two lengths behind Aunty Ann.

Captain Buck’s then entered the Badger Ales Trophy, where he carried a 9/1 price-tag to post. Daryl Jacob’s mount was travelling nicely just behind the leaders, only to be hampered badly at the third-last and he couldn’t work his way back into the contest. This handicap represents a steep drop in quality and Captain Buck’s will return to Wincanton on the lowest mark he’s every reached over fences. I expect him to go very well on good ground which should suit.
