1:25pm Worcester British EBF/TBA Mares' Novices' Chase (Qualifier For The EBF/TBA Mares' Chase Series) (Class 4) 2m4f

Desirable Court was rated the highest of this field over hurdles, but Dan Skelton’s mare will be up against it straight away, after picking up a penalty for a walk-over at Warwick earlier this month. Majestic Moll should be sharp after three runs over hurdles already this season, but the class angle in this race should be KALAHARI QUEEN and any price better than Evens looks good value.

Jamie Snowdon’s mare burst onto the scene with a convincing victory at Lingfield before coming up just short of a rival now rated 125 at Catterick on New Years Day. Kalahari Queen was then a 10/3 shot as she went up against Lamanver Odyssey – who had won a good Class Two handicap at Wincanton in front of the ITV cameras – but it was Gavin Sheehan’s mount who proved her quality that day, leaving the favourite trailing eight lengths in her wake as she crossed the line.

A step up in class was inevitable and Kalahari Queen took her chances in the Grade Two Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle finale at Newbury. Dan Skelton’s Roksana stormed to victory, with Kalahari Queen impressing again with a strong runner-up finish.

That’s easily the best piece of hurdling form in the race and the track she enjoyed at Newbury is similar to that she will tackle here at Worcester. None of the mares in this race has ever jumped a fence under rules, but Kalahari Queen has a good victory in a point-to-point to further bolster her claims.
