Pertemps Network Final Tips 2023

The Pertemps Network Final is the culmination of a long season of qualifiers throughout the National Hunt season. This race is the second on the day’s list for Cheltenham Festival Day 3. Our horse racing betting experts look at Pertemps Network Final in this exciting handicap hurdle.

Pertemps Network Final Potential Runners & Favourites

A regular feature of Pertemps Network Final odds is that some bigger odds are usually available. As seen below in the ante-post Pertemps Network Final odds, even the favourites have plenty of meat on the bone for punters. Here are some of the key contenders who could go to the start.

ALAPHILIPPE is one of the current joint-favourites and warrants respect in Pertemps Network Final odds. He was last seen in mid-January, looking like he needed a run under his belt getting heavily beaten at Warwick. That was the first run for Alaphilippe since a 5th place finish in the Albert Bartlett (Grade 1) at last year’s Festival.

SIRE DU BERLAIS was well beaten by Sizing John in that January Pertemps Final qualifier. He is just seeking a little revival at the moment but is more than capable. At last year’s Cheltenham Festival, Sire Du Berlais was runner up in the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle and, on top of his game, should have a chance in this wide-open contest.

The Pertemps Network Final is excitingly competitive, and there are plenty of other racing tips to consider from longer prices. TULLYBEG has won two of his last three, and he put in a decent shift for a fifth-place finish at Cheltenham in October. He hasn’t been seen since then but has proven form from fresh. Other names to note as potential selections in Pertemps Network Final tips 2023 are DUNBOYNE and SASSY YET CLASSY.

How Often Does a Favourite Horse Win The Pertemps Network Final Race

Winning favourites have not necessarily been a big part of the Cheltenham Festival’s Pertemps Network Final betting trends. Only two of the last ten winners have been the favourite on the day. The most recent one was Sire Du Berlais in 2019, when he delivered from a 4/1 SP.

In each of the last four renewals, the SP FAV has finished inside the top three, however, so there have been some near-misses.

The Pertemps Network Final is such a wide-open contest, and it can be one of the tricker Festival fields to pick apart. But even though the strike rate from favourites has been low recently, only one of the last 10 winners have been bigger than 14/1.

But it is neither a race in which there have been massive underdogs coming through the pack to land the score in recent times, which is sort of what you would expect from a handicap hurdle like this.

Pertemps Network Final History & Present Time

Throughout the National Hunt season, Pertemps Network Final qualifiers are hosted at different venues. Those qualifying races are the feeders for the Cheltenham Festival Pertemps Final.

Any horse that places in the top six of a qualifier can take a spot in the Final. They don’t have to but hold eligibility to do so. The Pertemps Network Final was introduced into the Cheltenham Festival in 1974, and it was moved up to Grade 3 recently in 2018.

The Pertemps Network Final is hosted on the New Course at the Cheltenham Festival, and it is a 3m trip (approx) with twelve hurdles.

Pertemps Network Final Jockey & Trainer Records

There is a three-way tie for the honour of the leading jockey in the Pertemps Network Final. Those are Jim Wilson, Davy Russell and Barry Geraghty. With Russell the only active jockey out of those, he leads the way.

His three wins have come from eight rides in the fixture. No other active jockey has won it more than once.

As for the trainer’s perspective, four have won it at least twice. Those are Patrick Kelly and David Pipe with two each and three Pertemps Finals victories for Jonjo O’Neill and Gordon Elliott.
