The ’greatest show on turf’ heads to post in March and for punters there are plenty of betting opportunities and a number of available Cheltenham Festival free bets and dedicated betting offers to avail of throughout the week to make the most of their Festival wagers.

From free bets to enhanced special odds on certain runners throughout the course of the four days there’s plenty of value to be had and the RacingTips team will be busy throughout each day to bring readers the best Cheltenham betting offers.

The Best Cheltenham Free Bets

As soon as the offers start coming in, we’ll have them available here:

How to use your Cheltenham Free Bets

In most cases Cheltenham Free bets will be available on the day for use and most bookmakers clearly identify those free bets within punters’ online accounts.

Other Cheltenham free bet offers might be published in print form in a number of national newspapers for use in betting shops while many can also be applied into betting accounts for use. Many free bet offers are designed to attract new betting customers but often existing customers are catered for too, especially at the bigger festivals such as Cheltenham 2023.

For new customers the sign-up process to take advantage of Cheltenham free bets is simple and straightforward. Clicking a banner or graphic will take new customers to the sign-up page to fill in the registration form and there may be a deposit requirement to activate the account and claim the free bet(s) although each bookmaker’s requirement varies.

Take a look at our Cheltenham Festival free bets

While there might not currently be any special Cheltenham Festival free bets up for grabs at present although that will change as the Festival approaches and bookmakers’ compete for new customers there are still Cheltenham Festival 2023 concessions available now such as ‘non-runner no bet’.

Keep checking back to this page regularly for Cheltenham Festival free bets as we’ll be adding the best Cheltenham betting offers here as they become available.

Apply to your bet slip

To use Cheltenham free bet offers is often a simple and straightforward procedure; just click on the corresponding graphic, button or banner highlighting the specific free bet or offer and it should be added to the bet slip automatically with the correct odds, stake and detail of any additional terms such as enhanced each-way terms.

Put to use across the races

Not all Cheltenham Festival 2023 free bets and offers need to be used on a specific race; many can be used to cover multiple bets across several races rather than having to be used in entirety in a single bet.

Cheltenham Free Betting Offers

On the run up to the Cheltenham Festival bookmakers are often busy devising new betting offers including free bets and enhanced odds or each-way terms and it can pay to ‘shop around’ for the best of them especially if Cheltenham Festival fancies are contesting specific races as one bookmaker might have a special offer on wagers placed in the race.

We’ll have a round up of all the best Cheltenham free bet offers each day to help punters get the most from their betting.

Cheltenham Day 1

On day one of the Cheltenham Festival the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle kicks off the four days of top-class racing and the curtain raiser is often a target for bookmakers with a number of free bets.

Popular free bet offers might centre on placing a bet in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and receiving a free bet for every other race on the card or even for the remainder of the Festival!

The Arkle Chase could see enhanced win terms on market leaders El Fabiolo and Jonbon, or money back concessions should they be defeated. The Champion Hurdle already has enhanced betting odds on favourite Constitution Hill at 40-1 with Sky Bet while there might be special trainer-specific odds on Willie Mullins who has a particularly strong hand on day 1.

For the competitive Ultima Handicap Chase and Boodles Juvenile Hurdle, bookmakers usually offer enhanced each-way places, paying on the first six or seven runners rather than the usual four places.

Cheltenham Day 2

The Champion Chase will be the main event of day two and sure to attract plenty of attention so bookmakers are likely to have plenty of offers and free bets centred on the race.

Enhanced odds on defending champions Energumene and Delta Work (Cross Country Chase) could prove the focus of bookmakers’ attentions on day two in addition to offers similar to those that may be on offer on day one of the Cheltenham Festival.

Cheltenham Day 3

Will Shishkin justify favouritism in the Ryanair Chase? Nicky Henderson’s star was a bitter disappointment in last season’s Champion Chase with his defeat later blamed on a rare bone disorder.

He looked right back to his best at Ascot last time and will be many people’s idea of the banker bet of the day. From enhanced odds on the red-hot favourite to money back specials if he is beaten, there’s sure to be plenty of interest in the Ryanair.

Flooring Porter could also be a focal point of bookmaker’s Cheltenham betting offers when he attempts a third consecutive win in the Stayers’ Hurdle. There are some very competitive handicaps on day 3 including the Pertemps Network Final for which bookmakers will be offering enhanced each-way terms.

Cheltenham Day 4

The fourth and final day brings the climax of the week with the Cheltenham Gold Cup. There are certain to be some great betting offers throughout the card. Willie Mullins dominated this day in 2022 with an incredible five-timer and bookmakers will be wary of his runners, headed by Gold Cup favourite Galopin Des Champs.

Mullins has several fancied runners in the opening Triumph Hurdle and the favourite in the Mares Chase. He also has a terrific recent record in the County Hurdle and the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle so there will be plenty of multiple bets combining the Mullins’ runners.

Rachael Blackmore was the top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival in 2021 and hit the headlines again in 2022 when winning the Gold Cup on A Plus Tard. Bookmakers are offering generous odds on the chances of Henry De Bromhead’s star and he will have plenty of supporters.

Gold Cup Free Bets

It is hard to predict bookmakers’ plans for Cheltenham free bet offers on Gold Cup day and indeed throughout all four days of the Festival.

It is sure though that there will be a number of free bet opportunities and Cheltenham Festival free bets up for grabs that will become available as the Festival approaches.

Keep checking back on this page for details of the best Cheltenham betting offers as and when they become available.

Cheltenham Horse Race Betting Types Explained

First things first, you can bet on a horse to win or back them each-way. A WIN bet is exactly that, backing a horse to win only. An EACH-WAY bet will mean you will get a return on your money if your selections finishes amongst the places.

  • SINGLE bet is simply placing a bet on one horse in a race. For example, backing one horse to win in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
  • DOUBLE is backing two horses in two different races. Punters find these to be a popular option throughout Cheltenham Festival as you could combine two of the favourites in the betting that day to win.
  • TREBLE is the pretty much the same as a double, except you select three horses to win in three races.
  • LUCKY 15 bet is a system bet – that is, it’s a series of bets combined in order to maximise your chances of a decent return while making sure that if all your selections do not come in, you’ll still have the good chance of a decent return and even a sizeable profit.

A Lucky 15 bet consists of four selections and a total of fifteen bets – hence Lucky ’15’ – as follows:

  1. 4 x single bets
  2. 6 x double bets
  3. 4 x treble bets
  4. 1 x accumulator

In short, every possible combined bet – as well as four singles – is covered in your Lucky 15 wager.

  • YANKEE is the same as a Lucky 15 except that there are no singles, so it only consists of eleven bets.
  • An ACCUMULATOR is betting on multiple races to make up one big bet. For example, backing four horses all to win at one meeting. These type of bets to end offer the biggest profits, which is why they prove popular with racing fans!
  • TRIXIE is made up of four bets from three selections (3 x doubles, 1 x treble), so if all three of your selections win you’ll win all four bets!
  • HEINX bet ups the ante even more, as this must be 57 bets of equal value on selections in six separate events:
  1. 15 x doubles
  2. 10 x trebles
  3. 15 x four-folds
  4. 6 x five-folds
  5. 1 x six-fold accumulator
  • PATENT is seven bets of equal value on three separate races, (3 x singles, 3 x doubles and 1 x treble).
  • STRAIGHT FORECAST bet is picking two horses in a race to finish first and second in that exact order. There is also a REVERSE FORECAST, which is the same as a straight forecast, except they can finish first or second in either order.
  • For a PLACEPOT bet, you need to pick a horse to place in each of the first six races at any race meeting.
  • JACKPOT bet is similar to a placepot bet, but you pick a horse to win in each of the six races, rather than just to place.
