Form & Verdict
Beat just two opponents when a Listed winner at Leicester in April and he's been soundly beaten in Group 3s the next twice; arrives with something to prove but Goodwood frequently brings out the best in him (third in this last year) and he's not ruled out each-way now back at this unique track.

Form & Verdict
Last year's win in this race came on soft going but he's shown this year that he's versatile ground-wise, going very close behind Pogo and Laneqash on his reappearance in a Haydock Group 3 (7f, good) before a creditable eighth in the Platinum Jubilee (6f, good to firm); respected now back up to 7f.

Went very close behind Pogo in a blanket finish to the Group 3 John Of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock (7f, good) in May and returned to form with a Listed win in first-time cheekpieces (retained) at Chester (7f, good) last time; needs something extra to win his first Group race but might not be far away.

Went close in Leopardstown Group 3 (7f, good) last June but all of his best subsequent form has been on AW and he made no impact when back on turf in a Listed race at Windsor last time out in May; others preferred.

Form & Verdict
Has made all in Group 3 races the last twice (7f, good), most recently showing career-best form at the age of six when defying a 3lb penalty to score by 2l at Newmarket; benefited from an uncontested lead last time but has to be in calculations given his current purple patch.

Yet to win anything stronger than a Group 3 but he did go close in this 12 months ago and has looked better than ever this term, including his latest second to the outstanding 7f yardstick Kinross; that shorter trip is probably ideal for him, though.

Form & Verdict
Won this for David Elsworth in 2018 and 2019 and, on his second start back after a huge absence, he returned to form with a close second in a 6f handicap at Pontefract three weeks ago; could build on that run now back up in trip but it remains to be seen if this 8yo is the full force of old.

Lightly raced 4yo who is 2-2 over 7f, having won the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes and the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes last season, and she reappeared with a 1l fifth of 24 in the 6f Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot last month (goes well fresh); kept on strongly last time and is a key player now back up to 7f.

Looked a filly going places when winning last year's Nell Gwyn and Hungerford Stakes (both 7f, good; had shaped well only run on good to soft); promising fifth in the Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot (6f) on reappearance but she's been a beaten favourite twice since, disappointing behind Kinross at York most recently; impossible to discount but needs to get back on track.

Form & Verdict
Others have better form but he made it 2-2 over 7f when winning a Listed race at Epsom on Oaks day and that was despite not looking comfortable on the camber in the straight; the race wasn't run to suit when he was a 4l third behind all-the-way winner Pogo in a 7f Group 3 at Newmarket last time and he could still have more to offer at this trip; 1-1 here; interesting.

Verdict

Having kept on for a 1l fifth of 24 on her reappearance in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes over 6f at Royal Ascot, SACRED (nap) can maintain her unbeaten record at 7f now back up in distance. She has won Group races on her two previous attempts at this trip. Lusail has been placed in 3yo Group 1s the last twice and is feared most now back into a Group 2, having won twice at this level in his 2yo campaign (the July Stakes and the Gimcrack). Ever Given remains unexposed over 7f and this interesting each-way option is third choice. Last year's winner Kinross and the thriving Pogo could also be involved.[Ben Hutton]
