Form & Verdict
Half-brother to winners Manobo (1m2f-1m7f including Group 2; RPR 116) and Turgenev (Group-placed 1m 2yo including AW; 113); bred to be smart and he made an impressive debut when justifying favouritism at Wolverhampton (8.6f, AW; 5-4) last month; sets a useful standard under a penalty and he should be hard to beat in his bid to make it 2-2.

Won at Kempton (1m4f, AW) in April; 6-1, good sixth of 19 in handicap at Royal Ascot (1m4f, good) on turf debut, racing in sixth or seventh before challenging over 2f out in a very strongly run race; failure to improve on that when second favourite at Newmarket last month came in a hot 1m2f race on good to firm, so this is a different test, but he now has a bit to find.

Scooted clear in a handicap at Kempton (1m4f, AW) in April, in just a four-runner race but useful form; 6-1, good sixth of 19 in handicap at Royal Ascot (1m4f, good) on turf debut, racing in sixth or seventh before challenging over 2f out in a very strongly run race; lightly raced and well related, he still has significant potential.

Won the first of two AW novice races late last year; favourite, big step forward when scooting clear in a handicap at Kempton (1m4f, AW) in April, in just a four-runner race but the other three (headed by Maasai Mara) have bolstered the form; late foal with a smart pedigree, so lots of potential.

Has mostly run well since handicapping, one of the exceptions on his sole visit to this track but that was on soft ground and the only time he's had a visor (usually wears cheekpieces); three front-running wins on turf at up to 2m last season and renewed his progress this term, always prominent when scoring from Temporize at Goodwood (2m) last time; whether he can get a good enough early position from stall 1 is a worry, as he's not been quick to find his stride this term, but otherwise he should run very well.

Another Dimension has shown promise in both his runs and has each-way claims if he can take another step forward, while there are several well-bred newcomers who need a close look in the market including Regal Empire, Baileys Khelstar and the Crisfords’ Wigmore Street. However, it is hard to get away from Godolphin’s well-related colt TAGABAWA, who made an impressive start at Wolverhampton last month and sets a useful standard under a penalty.[David Moon]
