BALLINROBE RACING TIPS ON TUESDAY – TODAY’S IRISH RACING BEST BETS
3:15 Ballinrobe – Corrigan’s Ballintubber Stores Maiden Hurdle (4-5yo) 2m1½f
CULLAGHS STAR has shown some fair form to date in his starts, making the frame on all four starts since returning from a break and being beaten less than one length in each of his last two starts at Down Royal and Bellewstown.
The latest of those defeats came behind Highstreet Roller earlier this month where he was denied by three-parts of a length, not helped by making a mistake two out when holding every chance.
That was a solid run and recent form gives the Kalanisi gelding every chance of making a breakthrough win on this occasion and he should go well.
4:23 Ballinrobe – West Tyre Ballintubber & Westport Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-109) 2m1½f
None of these are particularly reliable so it might be worth chancing lightly-raced UNION PARK to find some further improvement on the back of a good third at Punchestown in May where Philip Rothwell’s charge finishing behind Call Me Dolly and beaten just two lengths.
The Walk In The Park gelding finished off the race well there having probably been given too much to do, but the winner has gone in again since to give the form a boost and a 2lbs rise for that placed effort is negated by Hugh Morgan able to claim 5lbs off the gelding’s back.
A theoretical mark of 90 then is likely to given the five-year old every chance if he can build on that most recent run and as a lightly-raced sort he may have more to offer yet.
4:55 Ballinrobe – Brewin Dolphin Rated Novice Hurdle (4yo+) 2m1½f
PERSIA is 2-3 in his runs this term following a break, scoring victories at Punchestown in May and Bellewstown latest earlier this month and the Galileo gelding can strike again here with further improvement anticipated.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge ran out a wide margin winner in that latest run, beating Batalha by 15 lengths easily in first-time blinkers and if the headgear has the same positive effect then he should take some beating here given he has plenty of scope to improve given his flat form where he was a dual-winner and placed in Group company.
He has the potential to progress further over hurdles and could yet prove a good deal better so the Galileo gelding ought to prove a tough nut to crack in this contest.
5:25 Ballinrobe – BoyleSports Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m5½f
RAIN IN SPAIN has shown some fair form in recent starts over hurdles, finishing third twice at Kilbeggan and Downpatrick and scoring at Cork when running out a four lengths’ winner over China Princess.
The Jeremy mare was a ready winner that day, keeping on strongly to win having gone on two out and Charles O’Brien’s charge can register further success here given she arrives as one in form unlike several of her rivals.
She has been hit with a 8lbs rise in the weights for that last success but this longer trip ought to suit her and with Paul Townend booked for the ride there’d be no surprise if she weren’t capable of delivering another big performance here.
