LINGFIELD RACING TIPS
ROYAL BIRTH (7/4, William Hill) could prove a tough nut to crack and the Exceed and Excel gelding can get back on the scoresheet here.
Stuart Williams’ charge is a three-time course and distance winner but he is on an eleven-race losing streak since posting his last success at Chelmsford last September.
He bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts when finding only Hareem Queen too strong in Listed company here last Saturday, finishing ahead of the reopposing Watchable having been run down late by the winner.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go one better here with Marco Ghiani taking a useful 5lbs off his back and every chance he can snap his losing run on this occasion.
THE PERFECT CROWN (7/2, William Hill) made a winning debut at Chelmsford back in November and Archie Watson’s charge could be worth siding with to double up here returning from a break.
The Hallowed Crown colt ran out an easy eight lengths’ winner that day, beating Corvair, and that form has been franked by the runner-up winning twice since.
He likely has plenty more to come and further improvement could see him strike again although this is a big step up in class from that debut. His trainer however is in decent form at present and every chance the Hallowed Crown colt can progress.
1.25 – Bernie’s Boy
2.00 – Royal Birth
2.35 – Spirit Warning
3.10 – The Perfect Crown
3.45 – Ahorsecalledwanda
4.20 – Mr Carbonator
4.55 – Blazon
SOUTHWELL RACING TIPS
HARBOUR FRONT (13/8, William Hill) stepped up on his two previous efforts when scoring over twelve furlongs at this venue last month, beating Straightouttacompton by three-parts of a length.
Robyn Brisland’s Iffraaj gelding showed a good attitude to hold off the runner-up with the pair pulling seven lengths clear. That runner-up has since franked the form with two subsequent wins, while the fourth has also registered a win since.
A mark of 73 on his handicap debut looks very workable and this longer trip could elicit some further improvement so every chance he can find some further improvement to follow up that success.
EXTRAORDINAIR (7/2, William Hill) will find this significantly easier than the Listed race he took in last time out and the Captain Gerrard gelding understandably found that company too hot when failing to beat a rival home behind Bangkok.
Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge had won at Chelmsford in October, and prior to his latest run he had gone close behind Fighting Temeraire when only beaten a neck. He split two subsequent winners that day and he could prove the one to side with back down to a Class Five contest where he can run from the same mark.
He had looked steadily progressive prior to his latest outing and no surprise if he were to bounce back here under Ben Curtis.
5.30 – Charlie Arthur
6.00 – Latin Knight
6.30 – Harbour Front
7.00 – Extraordinair
7.30 – Bill Cody
8.00 – Palazzo
