Today’s Extra Place Race Tips

Need a hand picking out which horses to back in these selected races? Fear not, we’re here to help!

We put up 8/1 and 16/1 winners in these articles last week, and started this week with a 12/1 winner on Tuesday! Here are our tips in today’s extra place races with Betfred

REGARDING RUTH (15/2 Betfred) was well-beaten in a good handicap hurdle at Cheltenham the last day, but her two previous starts this season offer plenty of encouragement. Dropping down in class and back within her own sex, a return to the form that saw Regarding Ruth bolt up on her reappearance would surely see Lucky Wadham’s mare go close.

Kodi Koh could be the one to take down the favourite, but one who catches my eye at a much bigger price is ONE LAST HUG (16/1 Betfred). Jim Goldie upped his charge from seven furlongs to ten on his final start of last year, and he ran like a mile would suit. One Last Hug hasn’t performed badly on any of his starts here at Newcastle and could be a danger on his first start over the trip.

VENTURA DESTINY (16/1 Betfred) shaped as if amiss when thwarted in her hat-trick attempt at Wolverhampton back in November where the Outstrip filly failed to beat a rival, but Keith Dalgleish’s charge is forgiven that outing and is perhaps better judged on earlier successes here and at Southwell prior to that last run.

BUNIANN (7/1 Betfred) has run up to RPRs of 72 and 73 on both his starts over course-and-distance, winning on debut before a three-quarter-length defeat on his latest outing back in October. Paul Midgley’s lightly-raced four-year-old remains open to improvement on the all-weather and his draw out in stall five could prove advantageous.

In a handicap sprint as competitive as this, I always like to side with good course form. All three of LORD OF THE GLEN’S (11/2 Betfred) career wins came here at Newcastle around the turn of 2018 and he looked to be zoning in on another course success during four outings at the end of last season. Corey Madden’s seven-pound claimer will certainly help too.
