Saturday’s Extra Place Each-Way Tips
SPIRIT WARNING has won three of his five starts on the all-weather, and boasts a perfect one-from-one record here at Lingfield. Andrew Balding’s charge has run well on the back of similar lay-offs and won the last time he ran off his current mark of 90. He’s certainly been overlooked in the market.
A difficult puzzle to try and solve, but a chance can be taken on KILLACOLLA at a decent each-way price. Augustine Leahy’s charge ran well to place second on his most recent start in a handicap, despite the heavy ground going against him. Killcolla has clocked RPRs of 110 and 114 over hurdles, so he could exploit his current official rating of 104 today.
Good ground and a lenient handicap mark of 141 could see THEBANNERKINGREBEL go close in this year’s Betfair Hurdle. Jamie Snowden’s novice has shown a good turn of foot over hurdles, and only finished two lengths behind Stolen Silver on heavy ground in the Rossington Main. Snowden’s star still holds an entry to the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and could prove himself a cut above handicap level today.
TWASN’T THE PLAN hasn’t been at his best in recent runs, but the fact he’s out just nine days after a lengthy defeat suggests he was never traveling that day. Heavy ground is ideal and, even though he’d prefer a longer trip, Tim Vaughan’s handicapper has the potential to challenge for the places.
Dan Skelton thought REDZOR deserved a crack at the Kauto Star, on the back of a victory and an encouraging third at Cheltenham. Redzor was vastly outclassed in that Grade One, but this represents a massive drop in class and both of his career wins have come on good ground.
