Friday’s Extra Place Each-Way Tips
Henry Oliver has only run AVANTGARDIST over two-and-a-half-miles once, and that resulted in victory at Warwick back in March. Oliver’s six-year-old ran a decent race to place fourth last time out, and has been dropped a pound in the handicap for his efforts. All of his best runs have come when soft has featured in the going description too, so Avantgardist could take well to bottomless ground.
SHARRABANG ran a good race at Wolverhampton last time out, finishing just a length behind second-favourite Blackcurrent over a five-furlong trip which was a little on the short side. Stella Barclay’s four-year-old ran well on his only previous start here at Newcastle, and could be worth siding with now back up to six furlongs.
PARIS DUVET bolted up to beat Annie B – who carries a price of 6/4 into a maiden earlier in the card – over a mile here before Christmas. Henry De Bromhead’s filly was pushed up to 65 following that two-length triumph, but Mike O’Connor’s ten-pound claimer will come in useful and Paris Duvet can strike again.
Three starts ago in a claiming race over course-and-distance, FRENCH carried 66/1 into the places behind Nigg Bay. Things didn’t go to plan when last seen, but Anthony Mulholland’s seven-year-old has previous here, he’s landed a kind inside draw and could go well again at a massive price.
Ten-year-old RED ALL STAR ran up to an RPR of 51 off this mark three weeks ago, finishing fourth over seven furlongs. Killian Leonard’s mount is a former course-and-distance winner and he can mount another winning challenge coming out of stall two.
